Our lovely dystopia

The FSFE’s technical infrastructure is 100% Free Software. New in the game are our Peertube instance and Matrix server. Read about our system in our yearly report: fsfe.org/news/2022/news-202209

@stux @andijah People please... donate to your instance admins! They run these services out of the goodness of their hearts and are true heroes!
If everyone on the instance just donated ONE EUR/GBP/USD... a month then it would go a looooong way to keeping the instance secure into the future.

Now...single instance users, you interact with these instances right? So why not donate to them so your contacts using these instances can be kept online for as long as can be!?

(to be clear and a little boastful, yes I do donate to mstdn.social, even though I don't use it directly. I also donate to other larger instances I interact with - I want all these people to talk to!)

mstdn.social has 6170 active users

With so many users it should be easy to cover the costs of the server

@stux has repeatedly been asking for donations, but people don't donate enough

A 'tragedy of the commons' seems to happens on donation-based servers

Here's Stux latest call for donations: mstdn.social/@stux/10918355556

Think of it, 6000 people should be able to cover the missing 257 € in a second - but they don't

The funding-model of the #Fediverse is broken. We must do something to fix it.

I'm so so so inspired by the anti-nuclear activist that I sat next to all evening who spent her youth during the cold war protesting, being arrested, protesting, being arrested - and telling me about their strategies and what they achieved in terms of global regulation. 💚

Richard Wolff saying Putin has done an "extraordinary job" and calling him a "smart fellow", criticizing him being "demonized" as a "bad guy".

This guy is a liability to the coop movement, no idea why he has become the self-appointed worker coop guru of the US.

UK co-op event!

I don't know who needs to hear this but

The postal service exists to deliver letters and parcels to people
Not to make money for shareholders

The transport system exists to move people to where they need to go
Not to make money for shareholders

The water, gas, and electricity supplies exist to provide people vital utilities
Not to make money for shareholders

The healthcare system exists to ensure (and that's ENsure, not INsure) the health of the population
Not to make money for shareholders

Shareholders in vital public services are a vampiric drain on those services

Capitalism is a disease

Beware the Distortion of Terms Like ‘Supply Chain’, ‘Zero Day’, and ‘Back Door’ (New FUD Patterns Against Free Software, a Distraction From the Real Culprits) | Techrights

"Recently, a Microsoft front group called “Linux Foundation” kept using terms like “supply chain”. Years ago nobody used this term in relation to Free software and then Microsoft bought a lot of the so-called ‘supply chain’, in the form of GitHub [...], whose CSO is a decades-long NSA veteran?"

Hey Latin nerds, is there some word that is the antonym of panacea? The online thesauruses are just giving me words like "disease" that don't express the universality of panacea. Is pandolor a thing? Panamal, perhaps?
