Congratulations to those in São Paulo who burned the statue of Borba Gato, a 17th-century perpetrator of colonial violence.
To quote our comrades in Brazil, "If monuments still honor slavers and rapists, it is because the system they built is still standing." Let's take it down.

What a good idea it was to drop all legal restrictions last Monday. Which bunch of libertarian idiots thought that one up, I wonder?

Interesting post, includes a list of tools at the end.
Give a shout to the Chair of Sanford Housing Co-op.
They're always happy to share about the problems that they had, and, how they fixed them. :D
That’s why the U.S. needs comprehensive data privacy regulation more than ever. This kind of abuse is not inevitable, and it must not become the norm. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2019/06/effs-recommendations-consumer-data-privacy-laws
Another piece of the puzzle is the ad ID, another so-called “anonymous" label that identifies a device. Apps share ad IDs with third parties, and an entire industry of “identity resolution” companies can readily link ad IDs to real people at scale. https://www.vice.com/en/article/epnmvz/industry-unmasks-at-scale-maid-to-pii

Trying to find scholarly papers on the fragility of software monocultures... there were a few early papers that pointed out the huge vulnerability of massive institutional networks (e.g. the UK's NHS, brought to its knees by Wannacry!), and then there's a huge glut of papers saying that "monoculture's aren't necessarily the problem"... with authors from/ funded by the Microsoft Corporation... they've successfully clouded the waters to neutralise this attack vector on their global dominance.
What could possibly go wrong? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2021/07/18/bill-gates-soros-join-buyout-uk-covid-testing-company/
