One thing that is too often missing from COVID-19 (and other natural disaster) discussions is #ecology. The difficult question is how to factor fairness into human ecology discussions. The state of the world right now means the rich get to decide who should be culled from the population.
The key to creating software that is easy to understand and maintain is to clearly define and encapsulate the functional and non-functional subject matters in your system under development. I was first exposed to this concept about 28 years ago, and the method for doing it was already quite mature at that time.

It's unfriendly to developers who want to take away other people's rights. That's a feature, not a bug.
I mean, you might as well argue that commercial software licenses are unfriendly to developers. After all, they don't let you sell copies of the software as part of your own bundles.
Law enforcement agencies in the United States are notoriously secretive. That’s why we need @PCLOB_GOV to investigate what, where, and how surveillance was done against protestors this summer. Not sure if people heard about the vote in Chile to completely rewrite the Pinochet-era constitution. It is very exciting. This is a good listen about the campaign that lead up to the historic vote https://soundcloud.com/miradaspodcast/9-camila-vergara
"Chile, which was the laboratory for neoliberalism, needs to be the laboratory for democracy... In order for the people to have real power/the system to be accountable...people need to be organized--not just vote the preference....move from expression to decision."
AT&T and Verizon secured a massive regulatory benefit from the FCC with the elimination of the last bit of competition rules in broadband. In exchange for this massive gift, the public receives nothing.
