I'm going to have to go back to Google as my default search engine. After using DuckDuckGo for a while, I've found that I get way too many links to Microsoft-related web sites. I'd rather be in bed with Google than Microsoft. Google's targeting selections is less annoying than seeing too much Microsoft. Wish there was a way to default to relevant search selections rather than capitalism-driven search selections.

The other factor is the left wing voters. ... i started having thoughts a while back, in a particularly annoyed moment, about the proprietary nature of so much of the audio/music industry. As an audio engineer, this is a particularly true sentiment, as so *incredibly* much of the gear my fellow engineers and i use is entirely proprietary -- both in the software and hardware departments. From how our soundboards are not-entirely-but-close-enough-to black boxes, to how the new digital age has brought so many new proprietary "standards" -- Dante, AES50, etc. There are actually open/non-proprietary standards out there for audio and video transmission over networks, and for sound control. There is no seriously good reason why we should throw hundreds of thousands of dollars at single pieces of equipment.
With this in mind, i started a new project: OpenSourceStudio. The goal of the project is to create open hardware versions of the tools we use on a daily basis in our work, and to allow for a far more modular studio. So far, i have a... start, in the form of a wiki. While this project is still early stages, i believe it has great potential to make our lives better and our work easier.

The regulation that ensures you don’t have to change your phone number when you change the provider made it easier for businesses to compete with lower prices. Markets became less "free" but more "open".
Left should move the debate from free vs regulated to free vs open markets.
Nothing reveals the hypocrisy of big businesses like when they beg for government protection from the free market forces they always cite to justify their greed.

I think Uncle Bob and his eXtreme Programming gang have devolved software development towards the "make a cheeseburger, sell a cheeseburger" development path. With Capers Jones clocking numbers of 3x productivity (with at least that much quality gain) for MDA over any popular programming language, one has to question the intelligence of the SW community at large. Are they using their brains, or are they just chanting STUPID!, SOLID!, YAGNI! as offerings to the shrine of failed SW projects.
I don't know if this makes Fairphone a better or worse employer than the average in whatever country the phones are made. It's always up to the people in the country to determine how they want to be treated.

Hmm...this is quite a bit different than paying a living wage. The "For each" implies piecework, which was fought against by unions as unfair. "a living wage bonus" works hand in hand with piecework. i.e., you don't make a living wage if your production falters. Typical reasons production falters are illness, personal capacity (mental or physical variations from the average), and external factors.
