Latest of many recent emails from Social Security fluffing the corrupt Trump regime starts: "Under President Donald J. Trump, the Social Security Administration (SSA) is transforming into a model of excellence..."

Voters: Remember that this crowd wants to gut Medicare and Social Security.

Can personal or proprietary information shared in an AI chatbot end up inside an LLM, where anyone might coax it out? The answer is...

What a weird error message! Apparently this is a SharePoint thing.

Unfortunately, I suspect the answers to this survey will worm their way into ACL policies, so if you want to try to save our field (NLP/compling that is) from this zombie apocalypse, consider filling it out and giving them a piece of your mind:

The press freedom crackdown in Egypt is getting even worse. An Egyptian court has ordered the closure of Mada Masr, one of the country’s last independent news outlets, and slapped its editor with a crushing fine.

The shutdown of Mada Masr is an attack on independent journalism everywhere.

Can journalists enter a polling place? Photograph a voter? Photograph a marked ballot?

What about polling place selfies? Your own ballot?

There are no blanket rules!

Get ready for election day NOW. Research your local jurisdiction and read these tips from our friends at NPPA:

Goal setting requirements are just another coercion.

LLMs are so unpopular that in the other thread, people are actively discussing changing email providers again because tuta is now using them

and they’re right, because a privacy company that uses LLMs for anything doesn’t give a shit about your privacy

LLMs are so unpopular that most people in the world, when asked, say they hate them

LLMs are so unpopular that the employees who are forced to use them under threat of being fired still spoke out to 404 about how fucking awful using LLMs at Proton is

and you think they’re inevitable? how?

Only two days left to get a Horrors of Capitalism Grab Bag! This limited tote bag and book bundle includes our Horrors of Capitalism tote plus four books examining, critiquing, and laying bare just a few of the horrors we face daily living under late-stage capitalism. pmpress.org/product/the-horror

Rest in power, Jai Jai. Your work, your music, and your spirit live on.

I'm devastated to hear that #Proton 's CEO and CTO are treating their engineers in a terrible way, blindly trusting LLMs and creating a toxic culture where speed and growth trump security.

I'm not ready to make a radical switch yet but some little actions I implemented today could be useful for others, too:
1) I made my custom domain the DEFAULT email address in ProtonMail
2) I created aliases w my custom domain for shopping, newsletters, admin, etc.

Hoping this will make a transition smoother

“A statement in response to Andreas Malm being denied entry into the Un | Verso Books”

> We can only assume, since no reasons have been given for banning him, that it is Andreas’s positions on Palestine, no different from the ICC and UN commissions, is the cause.

Videos and blog posts from "AI"-pilled software developers talking about how their careers are gone or in a dead-end seems to have become a genre in a very short space of time. At least a couple of notable examples just this week.

I'mo just say it one more time. Or. Well. One more time today.

If your developers are being slowed down because of the time they spend on repetitive tasks, the answer is to fix the design, not to use an LLM. In fact, using an LLM to address that problem will only *guarantee* more of the same.

The journey of tech empowerment and liberation from tech bros can be a long, bumpy road.

The biggest tech regret of my adult life is that I didn't use a custom domain name as my main email address, so that when things invariably go south, I can simply hop to a new email provider.

The hundred or so email aliases I made with #Proton are a real headache right now. Time to clean up my mess.
