This person states that they hate trust fund babies, and we don't need rich people. They also state they are in the business of creating trust fund babies. (I'm assuming that they somehow enable trust funds. ???)
beige.party/@HG/11651102306527

This kind of reminds me of the Circle Jerks song, Making the Bombs. I understand hating your job, but I don't understand willingly enabling something you abhore. A life of crime seems more honest.

I work for and with rich people because they pay me lots to rent my brain. I have learned some things:
1. "Rich" is normally some combination of time, talent, luck, and fear. Luck is always one of the components. Rarely do my clients credit luck.
2. It does not take much money (relative) to become insulated from most consequences of daily life. That insulation rapidly severs people from people who work for a living.
3. People who inherit their wealth are contemptible. So are a lot of people who have worked for their money, but trust fund babies (who I am in the business of creating) have a strong tendency to be entitled, imperious, incompetent shits.
4. I'm really smart and really good at what I do. This is absolutely not a prerequisite for becoming rich and can even be counter-productive. Many of the people I work with are not particularly smart or talented, and that doesn't matter if you find a good racket and can sock away the money.
5. Back to people who inherit their money: as someone who will inherit basically a steak dinner and a heightened risk of Alzheimer's, I know nobody is coming to save me. I save as much as I can understanding that it may be a fool's errand. I resent people who have the luxury of knowing they cannot die from poverty because one day a mountain of dough is going to fall on them.
6. The estate tax should apply to as many people as possible and it should be confiscatory. Without it, we end up with these neo-feudalist enclaves of the corpulent rich, the grandchildren of ruthless/fortunate/gifted men, check-cashers who live off exploitation alone.
7. We do not need rich people.

Sorry, I'm in a mood. Endrant.

> It's a show trial of thought: pre-determined conclusions, pre-determined axioms and premises, and all that's left for our thought leader to do is to apply the package to whatever particular issue they're curious about and do just enough casuistry to make everything hold together.

The term 'rando' is an homage to Ayn Rand, the patron saint of reply guys.

@grampajoe @aesthr I have searched my memories and the only things that came close to the attempts to force me to use chatbots / agents were:
- When I stopped eating meat, and 21 months later went vegan, those, mostly meat-eaters with a cognitive dissonance, who were warning me that I would be dead in 2 years if I didn't start eating meat again (it's been over 2 decades)
- When I was still "of childbearing age", those who were trying to convince me I would never know love unless I reproduced
- Christians of different denominations, but mostly Catholics (due to my growing up in Croatia), threatening me with hell unless I became a true believer
- the ex who would keep waking me up over and over again until I "consented" to sexual acts

Amway sellers, Herbalife sellers, Jehovah's witnesses, the friend who nudged me to drink at parties (and who gave up when I asked her what was her interest in me ingesting carcinogenic substances) were much less pushy. And nobody ever nudged me to try drugs other than alcohol.

I feel like every genuinely useful tool I've ever worked with was adopted bottom-up, often with a lot of resistance. It makes sense, the people who actually do the work have a better idea of what tools are actually helpful.

Every one of these neo-nazi fucks in EVERY country where a right-wing exists are inextricably linked with A) violent goonsquads and B) the Republican Party of the United States and its neo-nazi techbro sponsors because they are ALL members of a Fascist International. This👇 is the START of how you MEANINGFULLY deal with them.

How I approach my #AltText game.

A protestor said out loud what #Canva needed to hear: #AI steals from artists.

I’m sad to see Canva embrace AI tools; it has been one of the very few places left on the Internet where amateurs can get non-AI templates and artwork. I’m very sad to see it go down the trash bin of #AISlop.

we've created a no AI notice that we'll be using to reassure people seeing our trailers and games, with hand drawn lettering and a relaxing cute sleepy fox, and it's also up on itch in multiple formats for anyone to use: eniko.itch.io/cute-fox-no-ai-n

options include with/without fox, opaque/transparent, and 4k, 2160p, 1440p, 1080p, and 720p resolutions

Please don't scroll past. This is important.

I am being pressured by FreeBSD's reddit moderation team to censor the Omarchy #content_review or to remove it completely. They have began a harrasment campaign with the goal of removing me from this world.

the review: merveilles.town/@prahou/117501

The issue at hand is that a picture of a partial swastika appears in close proximity to the word FreeBSD - if you've seen a newspaper before, you might understand the principle of two separate unrelated articles appearing next to each other. You might also understand that I am reporting on common associations with the Topic of the review. These are not my inventions, and I am not calling anyone anything. I am reporting on the news. Nevertheless, as much as I am a journalist, I am an artistè, and if my audience sees in my work something I didn't put there, I am not going to take that experience away from them. This probably says more about them than it does about me.

While I am a man of principle, there is one thing I like more - money.

I will delete it for $,2000. For $5,000 I will apologize. For $10,000 I will use daemonarchy exclusively for 6 months on all my computers. For $25,000 I will kill a small animal of your choice. For $75,000 I will not post anything for a month.

To everyone else who feels personally attacked by my art: send money, you can end this here and now.

Thank you for your attention.

@worik @argv_minus_one @wobweger @libreoffice @moskitokoenig Surveys and studies of coders say the opposite:

Generative AI is good at producing text that resembles code and may compile, but the code is unreliable and takes as much work to debug as it would to write it from scratch.

A lot of coders have your experience. Until they actually look at the code it produces.

Well this is eleventy-million kinds of Fucked Up. LA Times (who once contracted with me as a freelance reviewer and whom I struggled to get paid by) asserts that *merely reading its website* constitutes a permanent waiver of your right to sue it under *any circumstances*. This means that freelancers like me who read the website would lose the right to sue the company if we got stiffed. #consenttheater #bindingarbitration #dickovers

RE: neuromatch.social/@jonny/11751

I said something like this to my buddies this very day. The Anthropic IPO makes no goddamn sense to me. The numbers aren’t even CLOSE to adding up.

Never mind that they lost 25% of their consensus valuation within…a few days? Down from $2T to $1.5T. That’s $500M down, for nothing. This isn’t a serious investment.

in the runup to the 2024 election, Trump tripled down on the most vile misogynistic anti-trans outright fascist rhetoric... and it helped him

(some)people were like HELL YEAH women shouldn't have the vote & made sure to get their rancid ass to the poll

Just in case you're thinking of staying home
