(It's the delta that worries me in the code I see—the change in quality, that is. Engineers with a quarter century of experience churning out code by the bucketful that's quite a bit worse than what they used to write. So either they aren't reviewing their own code like they used to or their skills have degraded.)

re: misinformation in textbook

Every time I see a vibe coder say something along the lines of "if you haven't used these tools over the past five minutes, you don't know what they're capable of, because everything's different now!" I get a little bit perplexed.

You do know that we can see the output without using it ourself, right? Some of us are still reviewing pull requests and reading through code repositories, y’know?

“Proxycafe – Rise Against Big Tech.

Door opens at 19:00. Presentation, discussion from 20:00

We are living inside a sci-fi book. Which narrative of resistance are we going to write?

In this talk we want to open a discussion, talk about the resistance to big tech.

Which kind of alternatives are we working on?”

Oh we are talking about LLMs being conscious and whether they should get rights or not? Fuck everyone who even entertains that thought even remotely. Animal and people rights are all over the place ignored, mistreated and worse. And don’t come at me wrt whataboutism.

AI-Psychosis is too friendly at this stage.

Asking for no reason: is it an #autistic trait to be super heat sensitive/prone to worsening anxiety when hot? And as a result, to really prefer not to wear clothes while at home or otherwise in private? And also just to find most clothes restricting and uncomfortable in general? I also have some very strong preferences when it comes to fabrics, not just for clothes but for bedding, towels, and cloths as well.

This is all a bit embarassing, but I'm dying to know if I'm alone in this.

"I suggest the social action: shame. Shame these people. Their actions are shameful. AI bros hate being shamed and they try to make rules against shaming — because shame works.

None of these people doing shameful things deserve a place in polite company. They should be shamed for their shameful choices."

@j5v Yeah, the emerging monoculture where everybody copies tech's abusive mismanagement habits and falling into the same investment-motivated traps is one of the biggest issues we're facing. It's happening here in Iceland as well. Our unions have become more militant in response, but in many cases that has alienated them from the popular political support they used to have, which would have been the key to fixing it.

(Every left-wing party got wiped out from parliament last election here.)

True reform is for most of these tech companies to no longer exist in their current form and for them to get replaced by something healthier and more constructive. That requires political, regulatory, and economic reform.

"Fiscal responsibility" is mostly a dogwhistle for "we're gonna cut services to keep taxes low. Except the police, we'll always fund that". Fuck that.

It's very easy to get depressed by the state of politics right now, but then you see interactions like this one, and it rekindles your faith. A new generation of politicians will come forward and they will be different.

A new logo for the Danish campaign against data centres. Lovely work by @snittegodskontoret - a lovely, clever counterpart to the ‘Nuclear Power? No Thanks’ logo. (Also a Danish design)

It will never stop being ironic to me that the one place I am certain never to stumble on LLM slop is piracy websites. I use piracy websites like the best catalog ever and then I go check out media from my local library. I am sure people have tried to upload LLM slop to piracy websites, but the pirates aren't sharing it, buddy. #Piracy

I bought the domain whynoai.info in which I’ve cataloged the answers I usually give when people ask me “Why no AI?”, with some relevant links.

Send a link to it if someone asks you the same question!

Please send me suggestions, corrections, and comments!
