It appears that Tristan Buckmaster is accusing AI corporations of having snooped on their research so they could throw compute at developing proofs for, and gain credit for, advancements in the Navier-Stokes equations. - we’ve heard all of the excuses you’re making before and none of them stand up to any scrutiny at all
- no it’s not ok because another project did it first
- doing this might get you money or tokens or whatever now, but it’ll cost you your community, your prestige, and soon enough your project too. none of this is free. you’re presumably old enough to not have to be told that
- we don’t care that you think you’ll be left behind without it. we’ll leave you behind if you do it
- people aren’t angry about this because they’re irrational or spoiled, they’re angry about this because you did a shitty thing that fucked then over. get the fuck over yourself
- everyone hates when you do it outside of a couple of loud voices with (temporary) money. everyone other than them loves when you commit to not doing it. not doing it is incredibly popular outside of a tiny group of people making your project measurably worse

Please look up Lucy Harrison.

She was murdered by her father after they had an argument about Trump.

Her dad said he “wouldn’t really mind” if Trump sexually assaulted her.

He shot and killed her.

He wasn’t even charged with a crime.

He claimed he was drunk and the gun discharged “by accident”.

Yet they hadn’t even been speaking after their argument and he took her by the hand and led her into the bedroom.

A minute later, she was dead. Shot point blank in the chest.

This man killed his own child.

“Accident” or not, there should have been accountability.

The only reason we even know it happened is because Lucy was a British citizen and they opened an investigation into what happened to her.

Texas just supported the child killer.

Being drunk is not an excuse for murder.

Even IF you believe he genuinely didn’t mean to do it, he still took her life.

Thats at the very least a manslaughter charge and yet he was charged with nothing.

That’s what being “supported” looks like.

When I first posted about her story in February, men flocked to his defence.

Saying how upset he was and that he didn’t mean to do it.

Lindsay Clancy has been visibly distraught in court and yet we’ve been told that doesn’t matter.

We’ve been told repeatedly there should be no sympathy for child murderers.

Yet when the murderer is a straight white man?

He gets the benefit of the doubt.

It’s assumed he was too drunk to know what he was doing.

He gets to go free and men say nothing.

If you won’t even consider that postpartum psychosis could mean Lindsay isn’t responsible, it’s patently absurd to excuse Lucy’s dad because he was drunk.

This has never been about protecting children.

It’s about shaming & controlling women and we see right through it.

Just had a young woman come to my door trying to get me to donate to an independent community organisation supporting people with intellectual disabilities. I'm very keen to see such organisations well resources... but I also think it's wasteful & sad they have to canvas the community begging for funds - they should be socially funded. She agreed. I asked her if she was registered to vote. She wasn't. I strongly encouraged her to do so. The lack of engagement among youth is terrifying.

I put the Stop Gen AI website into maintenance mode, to stop the spread of ClickFix malware.

I bought WordPress malware scan/removal software a few days ago with "updated definitions" and scanned several parts of the site and backed thoroughly and quarantined lots of malware.

Apparently QuickFix is still there. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I am a cybersecurity person, but I am so extremely lacking spoons at the moment. I have spoons for automated removal, but not manual.

Stop Gen AI's other cybersecurity people are busy, in crisis, etc.

Please, please, please. Someone please manually remove it. I will muster up a small PayPal payment for your labour.

The most surprising realization I had in the last years was how important it is to be public about your refusal to participate in harmful acts therefore giving others "permission" to do so as well. It really matters.
