I do not wish to chat with my expense software, I do not wish to gossip with my 401k portfolio, I do not wish to go to the ball game with my home equity loan.

"If a software dependency contains malicious code, we have mature practices for discovering it, tracking its provenance, and reducing its impact. AI models are different. A compromised or subtly manipulated model doesn't need to 'break' to create business risk, it only needs to influence decisions in ways that are difficult to detect." semgrep.dev/blog/2026/ai-suppl

This is kind of an incredible website:

Free idea for Marvel: once Doomsday flops, ENTER THE GERBERVERSE. Man-Thing, Howard the Duck (Just follow Gerber's original scripts and try not to cast any pedophiles), The Defenders...I would watch the shit outta that stuff

We have restored the primary Forgejo instance, which handles authenticated traffic from codeberg.org, to the rebooted server. This deployment also resolves the issue where editing the wiki resulted in a JavaScript error, and where self-hosted Forgejo runners were displayed as offline when they were not.

We're still tracking and investigating the poor performance of codeberg.org

“An EV charger's charging port is a network port. We found SSH and Telnet services exposed on XCharge C6 chargers with default root:root credentials. A threat actor with a malicious EV can gain immediate full control access on the charger and perform energy theft or potentially cause physical damage.”

Just amazing.

Again, this is just a specific example of the general genAI problem: It makes shit up & most of it will seem OK because you don't know enough about the subject matter to see the harm it does.

Until now we've been able to assume that even lies & misinformation took at least some effort & someone would need a reason for it - but now they just happen, with zero effort or reason.

We also thought the utility of asbestos & leaded gasoline outweighed the harms. We were wrong then, too.

It's a fun contrast to see how AI apologists say that criticism of data center water use is overblown, while the actual water utility companies loudly point out that data centers plans are a problem to the water supply.
