Ok, as someone who's never used/paid for either, I'm interested to know what folks, either on a biz/org capacity, or personal/family level are paying Microsoft or Google for MSO 365 or Google Workspace these days, and what you get for it. Please clarify the currency you're using. Feel free to DM if you prefer results not to be public. My discretion is assured.
A Nikkei investigation showed that Tech giants Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, & Oracle hide $1.65 trillion in off balance sheet debt from GPU contracts, data center leases, & joint ventures. That’s even more than their $1.35 trillion in official debt! Because accounting rules don't count these obligations until facilities go live, investors are getting a skewed picture: hidden debt that inflates current profit figure & yes it is all legal 🤣 https://asia.nikkei.com/business/technology/five-us-tech-giants-hidden-debts-soar-to-1.65tn-on-opaque-ai-funding ( https://archive.ph/lOlv5 )
I’m a firm believer that nonprofits, especially, should be incorporating Fediverse technologies as part of their social media strategy. I understand that they still need the major social networks for reach, but in my experience, Fediverse users volunteer and donate more often.
I know I do, and I know a bunch of my friends on the Fediverse do as well. We’re a generous bunch, and we often show up.
Red and blue states alike have “stopped talking about harmful content that’s sexual or harmful to minors and are moving towards complete bans on internet access for young people, on social media access for young people,” EFF’s Rin Alajaji told @BloombergLaw. https://news.bloomberglaw.com/product-liability-and-toxics-law/state-age-verification-law-rulings-leave-trail-of-uncertainty
I lived in #Philadelphia for two years in the 90s, but this is the kind of thing that gives that town a special place in my heart.
Bombs do not liberate women. They create refugees, orphans and survivors forced to carry the consequences long after governments declare victory.

What could it possibly mean to "re-imagine" synthetic text extruders "for radical ends"? Like, what specifically?
Why can I suddenly not drag tabs between windows? Is this just a me thing? #librewolf

Teachers, nurses, librarians, students, artists and veterans all have a role in opposing fascism.

@prietschka Satya Nadella admitted in November that Microsoft’s got Nvidia rigs piled in warehouses waiting for power:
> The biggest issue we are now having is not a compute glut, but it’s power and it’s sort of the ability to get the builds done fast enough close to power. So, if you can’t do that, you may actually have a bunch of chips sitting in inventory that I can’t plug in. In fact, that is my problem today, right? It’s not a supply issue of chips. It’s actually the fact that I don’t have warm shells to plug into.
So the world knows and it doesn't matter!

I’ll add that one thing I’m personally waiting to see is some sort of revelation about where all these GPUs Nvidia has been selling have gone.
The capacity isn’t there, there’s quite literally nowhere to plug all these GPUs in. The compute demand isn’t there, as Meta and XAI selling their idle capacity indicates.
So…where are the gazillion GPUs Nvidia has sold?
