Meta Hackers Simply Asked Meta AI to Give Them Access to High-Profile Instagram. It Worked.
Now is a good time to remember that Meta has announced that it is laying off 10% of its workforce, including 2,000 people just today, while going in on a "AI will replace workers" strategy.

Home Office sends letters to children as young as five saying they must leave UK - https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/jun/01/home-office-letters-children-care-workers-leave-uk "Children of those on care worker visas, who came legally before rule change, told to leave even if parents can stay" #homeoffice is just disgusting; as is #starmer for allowing this
The EU age verification app is presented as “completely anonymous”. The idea is to use Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) cryptography.
But currently, the EU app does not have ZKP functionality. More importantly, the app is designed to always function without ZKP. Even if fully developed ZKP technology could be implemented in the future, it would remain an optional feature that countries may choose to disable and that the EU could remove at any time.

Trump's planned presidential library is "a shrine to the story that he wants to tell," not an archive of presidential records, FPF's Lauren Harper told the New York Times.
"I’m just going to call it the Trump Miami tower because it’s not a library."

The corporate takeover of American medicine is a disaster for health, and nowhere is this more evident than in the way primary-care doctors -- many of whom are quitting -- have been turned into assembly line workers. https://prospect.org/2026/06/01/corporations-and-crisis-of-care-primary-doctors-corporations/
Wait, Pipewire is full of slop commits "Co-authored by Claude Opus" now? This is bad... https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire
I do not care if the project itself has plagiarized code or not.
Claude is constructed, fundamentally and foundationally, off plagiarized code.
PipeWire uses Claude to generate code.
Plagiarized code, it seems, IS acceptable... as long as the damage and harm being done is at least one degree removed from PipeWire itself. Let somebody else do it.
Don't put plagiarized code in the project itself, that would be *wrong*... but PipeWire will use and benefit off of tools constructed via mass theft.
Is that the position?

Paraphrasing again:
We’re in a power struggle between those using “AI” to centralise and consolidate their hold over the economy, education, media, and politics and are willing to sacrifice much of the environment and society to that end (i.e. "rule the ashes") and those who think that would be bad
Standing in the middle and going “actually, I think we could find productive uses for LLMs” is not a winning move and it won't protect you from the winning side of the power struggle.

There are good reasons for all those things to exist. They benefit individual developers or whole teams or they're necessary to deliver products that customers want.
But this…
I'm now reluctantly starting to use it because, in my 60s, I'm too old to find another software development job. If I'm made redundant, it'll mean enforced retirement. My employer has made it clear that redundancies are coming and that #AI is one of the reasons (although it's shrouded in Americanised bullshit about growth and productivity and opportunity and not getting left behind). Either I follow my employer's directives or Mrs Wife and I lose my income for the rest of my life. We both have close relatives in their nineties, so we can't afford to stop working yet. So it's off to #GitHubCopilot I go, and I hope I can stay careful enough to spot its nonsense.
