The DOJ and CFTC are going after a US soldier who allegedly used his access to confidential military information to profit more than $400,000 on Polymarket bets. They are not going after Polymarket, which is supposed to prohibit US bettors, and whose advisory board includes Donald Trump Jr.

“The whole world, unfortunately, has become somewhat of a casino,” said former casino tycoon and current President Trump.

“I don’t like it,” said the man whose own social media platform has announced plans to launch a crypto-based prediction market feature.

I just refreshed the #WSocial website and it's showing a MAJOR redesign... with a label at the top stating "built on the open AT-protocol."

This is the first time ever they acknowledge this – I know, as I've been visiting their website for MONTHS and also never heard about this in any interviews. So the claims in my exposé stand (the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine would confirm this).

Of note: they changed their URL from wsocial.eu to wsocial.news

It has been in the works for months, but the recent increase of downtime has accelerated work. We've moved from Caddy to HAProxy for codeberg.org traffic.

Starting over with a new reverse proxy has enabled us to make choices that enable us to set up HAProxy to scale with our increasing traffic. For example, traffic is split (when possible, decided via heuristics) over several instances to balance load balancing.

We hope to share more details at a later time about this change.

I am worried that the Democrat Party leadership still doesn't understand that the reason they keep getting trounced is because nobody trusts them to improve material conditions of working people, and that they need to move farther to the left rather than placating the right.

Now that Trump has demonstrated that everything can be quickly and easily broken, I hope I'm not the only person wondering how we can leverage this new information to build a better world for everybody rather than simply rolling back to the prior version.

AI slop is killing online communities

Most of the communities I'm in are doing just fine, with healthy discussions, much cheer and joy (and an occassional spiral into doom and gloom, as is the nature of modern humanity). There's no AI slop in there, and it ain't killing them in any shape or form.

The trick? These communities banned AI. Not just AI slop, everything LLMs and what is today known as "AI". They took a hard stance, and it paid off.

Now, the author of this article sees their communities struggle - because like the author, those communities did not take a hard stand. On the contrary! They embraced "AI"! And with that embrace comes the slop.

Want to keep AI slop out of your communities? Enact a hard anti-LLM policy for code and for everything else too, and enforce it. It's that simple.
