Five years ago I was routinely chastised for suggesting we give non-technical users scripts to automate or fix various things. The concern was that management didn’t think that the non-technical users would screw up running a deterministic script and break something.

Fast-forward five years and now management wants Frank in Marketing and Joe in Finance using non-deterministic tools running in third-party environment to produce working web apps of their own. Frank and Joe didn’t learn how to read code, it’s just that management has confused a chat bot for an actor with agency and understanding, even though it is not and does not.

Fuck this timeline.
