"The #NHS is preparing to close nearly all of its #OpenSource repositories." - shkspr.mobi/blog/2026/05/nhs-g this is utterly insane; if you are in the UK, please write to your MP explaining why this is so stupid - writetothem.com/

As workers around the country hit the streets for May Day, the question of power is hard to miss: Who gets to disrupt the economy, and for whose benefit?

We need a DBOM (Data Bill Of Materials) for all major LLMs used for government purposes. Everything from schools to the military, the public has a right to inspect all of the data undergirding decisions being made by these tools to which our elected representatives and public servants have delegated portions of state power.

Wondering why the U.S. and Canada celebrate their Labor Day in September?

"The ruling class did not want to have a very active labor force connected internationally," said Peter Linebaugh, author of The Incomplete, True, Authentic, and Wonderful History of May Day. "The principle of national patriotism was used against the principle of working-class unity or trade union unity."

Looks like Canonical (Ubuntu) is going to start heavy use of LLMs(AI).

Ok, both shoulders hurting at the same time is bullshit.

Enbridge plans to drill, blast, and trench through hundreds of waterways that flow into the Bad River Reservation in Wisconsin.

Tribal leaders and experts warn that the plan risks irreversible harm to the Band’s internationally recognized wild rice beds and walleye spawning grounds.

Yesterday voting rights protections were gutted. Today, states are setting up to redistrict ahead of November.

Being intentionally and consistently marginalized isn't my favorite, but credit to the voter suppression movement for having a vision, making plans and following through.

Hi all, sorry for the long wait.

We wanted to preemptively ensure that our servers were sufficiently shielded against copy.fail; we found no evidence of a compromise.

We waited for the greater community to react and provide some additional clarity on what is affected and what isn't (e.g. container engines), we carefully studied the LKML, and waited for upstreams to release official updates and guidance.
