I will say it's totally fair enough to mail a service in advance of signing up and asking "where would my stuff be stored?" and push for detail. Keep them on their toes, turn up the heat.

We would want to know the same with any item of ours that is precious. And just as we might also not want to participate in, or contribute to, markets or regimes that we're ethically opposed to.

Huge "pharmacy benefit manager" -- part of a cartel that is stealing uncounted billions from all of us via rigged healthcare market -- is ripping off taxpayers via the Pentagon.

No doubt the Trumpists are in favor, but you should be incensed.

Fine reporting by The Lever: levernews.com/how-a-pharma-gia

If you’re a user of Libby (the library app), consider before following their suggestion to type #InspireMe into the search bar.

It seems harmless, but it turns on an unrequested AI feature, & there is no way to reverse that.

This comes courtesy of ProfHeyRochelle, who is now reasonably pissed over following the directions.

A federal judge told the top Border Protection official to start wearing his body camera this week.

We should FOIA that footage now.

Schools, libraries, and other organizations can make private browsing the norm by deploying Privacy Badger on devices they manage. If you work at an organization with managed devices, talk to your IT team about Privacy Badger. eff.org/deeplinks/2025/09/libr

This seems connected to the push to privatise management of health data as an opportunity for corporate profit;

"Everyone can spread the word that companies and government agencies carelessly allowing cybercriminals and hostile states to get access to private personal data is outrageous and unacceptable. Make a point of this on social media. Demand legislation for financial and legal accountability."

We’ve been doing this radical indie publishing thing for 20 years, and our warehouse is absolutely central to the work we do! Help us pay it off so that we can keep the books flowing through 2026 and beyond. Shop exclusive merch here: pmpress.org/donate
All proceeds go towards helping us meet our goal! And please feel free to share!

Group 1: "All these instructions on the internet say I need a computer or sometimes even two; who has that kind of money?"

Group 2: "I have sixteen fully operational laptop computers that I fished out of a dumpster that desperately need a good home, but no one will take them, so they're cluttering up my apartment."

It feels like some problems would be solved if these two groups could talk to each other, but somehow it never seems to work that way : (

"for the rest of us who don’t have the technical knowledge and time to follow his accomplishments, his advice is to “Never use your primary WiFi network for IoT devices” and to “Treat them as strangers in your home.” "

Firefox is blocking web pages for bogus security issues -- wish Mozilla would spend more time making its browser work better and less time experimenting with "AI"

Chooms... I would like to introduce something to you.

Kyberklang ~ my therapy project

By day, I write code for rich people who think “innovation” means adding another LLM makes the world better.

By night, I built Kyberklang: a retro-styled audio player that glows, hums, and actually does something useful... like playing music.

I’m currently building versions for Linux and macOS (no Windows, sorry - or, you know... not sorry).

An alpha test is coming soon - maybe with you? :cyberheart_cyan:

You can tweak hue, pitch, and balance, drag and drop your own tracks, and feel like you’re operating the soundboard of a cyberpunk fever dream.

It’s not for clients, not for quarterly reports... just for sanity.

Sneak Preview: kyberklang.cyber.to

I just used a Samsung mobile phone for the first time in ten years. It’s still an intolerably frustrating experience. Why must a user always be signed into _both_ Google and Samsung accounts simultaneously??!
