Kyberklang ~ my therapy project

By day, I write code for rich people who think “innovation” means adding another LLM makes the world better.

By night, I built Kyberklang: a retro-styled audio player that glows, hums, and actually does something useful... like playing music.

I’m currently building versions for Linux and macOS (no Windows, sorry - or, you know... not sorry).

An alpha test is coming soon - maybe with you? :cyberheart_cyan:

You can tweak hue, pitch, and balance, drag and drop your own tracks, and feel like you’re operating the soundboard of a cyberpunk fever dream.

It’s not for clients, not for quarterly reports... just for sanity.

Sneak Preview: kyberklang.cyber.to

I just used a Samsung mobile phone for the first time in ten years. It’s still an intolerably frustrating experience. Why must a user always be signed into _both_ Google and Samsung accounts simultaneously??!

A Statement from the Anarchist Group in Sudan

Thanks to @TheDugoutPod for bringing it to our attention.

"We, in the Anarchist Group, call on comrades everywhere: the time has come to gather and stand with us against this destructive authoritarian war. We must raise awareness across the world about the mass
extermination being carried out by the Rapid Support Forces militias — supported by the United Arab Emirates - which are turning their guns toward ethnic cleansing and genocide on racial grounds for the sake of vicious imperialist interests seeking to control resources and gold in exchange for blood. The world must not stand by and watch us in silence. Revolutionaries everywhere must know of our sacrifices and our struggle against savage capitalist terror, against the bloody authority, and against systematic ethnic cleansing.

We in the Anarchist Group in Sudan have lost comrades; some of our members were injured and some died; others face the imminent danger of war. Our families suffer from hunger, lack of medicine, and lack of food. We believed in anarchism in a land where authority is everywhere, and we fought to defend ourselves, our idea, and our unity. Today we need you — reach out your hands to us and stand with us so we can resist the authorities and the Janjaweed.
May the revolution endure
- a
poisoned dagger in the hearts of
tyrants.
Ali Abdel Moneim
Spokesperson of the Group"

Ross Douthat is one of those tumors with teeth and hair in it. The fact it can write at all was so incredible the NYTimes never bothered reading its essays.

Thankfully, public pressure has once again pushed the EU Council to withdraw its dangerous plan to scan encrypted messages. eff.org/deeplinks/2025/10/once

We need better accessibility software for vision-impaired people on Linux. My blind friend is stuck using Windoze because apparently whatever Linux has isn't even close to up to par with what MS has on offer. This seems like a massive fail to me. I know it's probably a hard thing to develop, but still...

As Tim Bray aptly puts it, Grokpedia -- copied from Wikipedia and then junked up with right-wing advocacy and LLM slop -- is "the encyclopedia that Elon Musk’s LLM can edit, with sketchy citations and no progressive argument left un-attacked.”

This is unbelievable. So Europe is not even allowed to discuss how to be more independent from Big Tech? #Nextcloud

The history on how the Netherlands returned to paper ballots after it was shown that voting machines cannot be trusted sounds rather boring on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electron

"In September 2007 a committee chaired by Korthals Altes reported to the government that it would be better to return to paper voting. The deputy minister for the interior Ank Bijleveld said in a first response she would accept the committee's advice, and ban electronic voting."

Trust me, it was quite the drama at the time :)

Bingo: "awareness is growing that digital autonomy is no longer a luxury but a prerequisite for a well-functioning democracy." ginaplat.com/posts/20251031-di Thanks for this, @Gina - the world really needs to be moving away from BigTech and in a much different digital direction.

"The irony here is those of us in the military swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution" and the First Amendment, David Lapan, a former Pentagon spokesperson, said on France 24.

Now press freedom is "being degraded by this administration."
