Yesterday at the Burlington #Vermont food shelf I gave away 32 pairs of used reading glasses. I wasn't sure if there would be much interest but they were pretty popular. All gone in about 2.5 hours. We set up a display by the check-in desk and people were constantly trying them on.

"If armed, masked, federal agents are snatching US citizens off the street as they walk to work and throwing them in unmarked vehicles, you can only imagine what these agents must be willing to do to our immigrant neighbors" and people who dare speak out.

New Privacy Guides article 🔓👁️‍🗨️
by @jw and me:

Outside the Fediverse, you may have
encountered platforms where you were obligated to provide your "real" name.

These so-called "real-name" policies, often in fact requiring legal names, are horrible for everyone's privacy. But it's also important to consider how discriminatory and dangerous they are.

Pseudonymity isn't a trivial matter,
it saves lives.

Fighting against policies attacking
online pseudonymity, such as real-name policies, age-verification policies, and Chat Control proposals, isn't just a banal fight to keep using silly nicknames online. It's a battle for democracy, for civil liberties, and for human rights.

My cooperative development organization, Carolina Common Enterprise, lost federal funding earlier this year. We've re-engineered our business model to not depend on grants and internally to operate as a worker cooperative. There's a lot of need for our services. We have new projects in the pipeline and prospects to break even soon, but our cash has run out.
Please help us keep going for another month or two. Even a few dollars. Donate here:

A federal court just blocked a ridiculous law that banned almost all speech on public college campuses in Texas after 10 p.m., including student journalism.

Huge win by FIRE defending the First Amendment.

Free speech doesn’t have a curfew.

Nearly 6 months after the premiere of our full-length documentary, InterRebellium 01. The Estallido Social we are still hearing of autonomous volunteers organizing screenings all around the world.

This week alone there will be screenings in Budapest, Hungary; Medellín, Colombia; and Valparaíso, Chile. These screenings are happening because people see the value in this film, the importance of studying revolutionary movements and relating our histories of struggle on a global scale.

Most of these screenings have been completely free, we do not profit off of them nor do we want to.

That being said, we are raising funds to cover production costs of the next film of the series: InterRebellium 02. Shut Down Canada.

If you see the value in these revolutionary films and would like to help us continue making them, consider a donation to our firefund here:
