Folks, this is a serious offer, coming from a super guy.

If this is for you, DM Rob.

California consumer privacy complaints can spark investigations. It’s important for all of us to speak up, because it really does make a difference. eff.org/deeplinks/2025/10/how-

@lightweight "and by jumping to the fun part you're denying yourself the process" <- there it is; the core of it. it is the struggle that defines us, but the tech bro never experiences any and so feeds on the borrowed sense of achievement of others like a vampire, until all our creations are reduced to a pale and shambling, undead corpse. that's the risk of AI - that it robs us of our inspiration to even try.

“OpenAI is very seriously underestimating people’s creativity when it comes to harassment,” EFF’s @evacide told the Washington Post. washingtonpost.com/technology/

This is quite a thoughtful takedown of 'AI', especially in art. It helps characters/express something most of us feel but can't quite explain: theoatmeal.com/comics/ai_art

We filed a brief opposing the SEC "gag rule," which bars those who settle with the SEC from talking to reporters to protect the SEC's reputation.

We shouldn't need to say this, but the government doesn't get to censor its critics to make itself look good.

What could 10,000 ICE jackboots each cost to recruit, Michael? $3,000,000? Wait, that cannot possibly be right *checks math*

"The [ad] campaign... is part of ICE’s $30 billion initiative to hire 10,000 more deportation officers by the end of the year."

Reason 3 To Choose Linux 😍

It's better for the planet! 🌍

Hardware abandoned by #BigTech is often still supported by #Linux.

Software drives #eWaste, the fastest growing wastestream worldwide. Disposal brings significant risk to the environment, workers and communities.

Further, device production accounts for 75+% of #carbon emissions over its lifecycle. Keeping a functioning device in use longer reduces #CO2.

At scale the savings are huge!

I wonder if Microsoft secretly wants everyone to switch to Linux. There are certainly fewer reasons to stick to Windows every day: theverge.com/news/793579/micro

No surprise, time to buy goods from the first people's of turtle island. It's the only ethical "made in america" we got anyway.

@eythian I still stick to the line that "there is no such thing as AI", and while each of the underlying technologies are potentially good as specific tools, trying to anthropomorphise them into the category of "general intelligence" without detailed disclaimers (as in, actual academic research like we used to have) is deliberately fraudulent when perpetuated by the people making money.

We've had a lot of news on how farm workers get abused.

Time to talk about how it's not actually that hard to put a stop to it. Real, actionable steps that work contained in this article 💪
