On this day in 1978, the rainbow flag first flew as a symbol of pride. It was raised at San Francisco Gay Freedom Day.

Taking a break from moving, unpacking, and spackling (oh my!) during a heat wave to draw a cartoon, and realized I forgot to post last week's. gocomics.com/brian-mcfadden/20

I'm super happy to share, that the #Fairphone (Gen. 6) was just announced, and we've been able to already publish a lot of code for it!

* #postmarketOS support is submitted
* 59(!) patches were sent to bring up upstream #Linux on the SM7635 SoC and enable the device.
* The stock Android source code is public on code.fairphone.com

This has been a lot of work over the last couple of months so it's awesome to finally be able to share it!

Also, Drag n Drop and event controllers in general in GTK4 are so good. Really fantastic work. The toolkit just keeps getting better at making it easy to do hard things

Warning: this is in fact a sub-toot.

A viral article about « getting off US tech » that mentions email, office suites, music and video streaming services, search and maps… but NOT the publishing platform where the article was posted.

Spoiler alert: it was Substack - the ensh*tt*f*ed Nazi bar supported by A16Z that platforms and profits from far right content.

Substack alternatives: Ghost, Wordpress, BeeHiiv, Buttondown. I use Ghost & Wordpress and LOVE them

The NHS can't make us better when big business is making profit by making us sick youtu.be/uQA3jkqOXNQ?si=HvvGjB From addictive foods to lifetime drugs, corporations are profiting from your ill-health, and the NHS is left to foot the bill. This is how neoliberalism is eating the state.

From the U.S. Press Freedom Tracker:

Town councilmembers from Fountain Hills, AZ, removed the press table from its council chambers in April, citing “partisan” reporting by the local newspaper that primarily used it:

Identifying federal government employees is not doxxing. It was bad enough when Elon Musk suggested otherwise on X about DOGE employees.

It's even worse when a U.S. senator suggests it in legislation about ICE agents.

Just saw this scrolling through Facebook. I don't know anything about the matter, but my point remains valid: using other people's platforms does not and never will guarantee the safety of your data.

In a future of friendly and #sustainable digitization, we don't only need free/libre software, but also fairly produced and open hardware to operate the systems.

The German non-profit computer mouse manufacturer "Nager IT" needs human resources for a new future. If you can and want to support them, check out nager-it.de/maus/uebergabe#:~: (German only). There is a meeting in a few hours.

It would be great to keep the project alive and have more of the resources available under open licenses.

Has anyone ever encountered this before? Attached is a mock-up of a problem I've been having over the last few weeks in Windows 11 (only Windows, never any of my Linuxes). I can't screencap the problem: a lot of the time generating the weird blue rectangle locks up my system, and even when it doesn't a screencap won't capture the weird blue rectangle.

Supreme Court's right-wing super majority is totally corrupt and in the bag for the Trump dictatorship. Doesn't get much worse for democracy than that. archive.ph/xjyiq
