The deployment of federal agencies to LA may be getting the headlines, but many of the most serious abuses have come from local police.

We helped lead a letter to the LAPD and LASD reminding them of journalists' rights and the liability they're risking.

Today is June 11, the annual day of action in solidarity with long-term anarchist prisoners. As we mobilize to defend our communities from ICE and DHS, our thoughts are also with Marius Mason, Monica Caballero, and other captured comrades.

Abolish prisons. Freedom for all.

Background on the history of June 11, which has been observed for 25 years:

crimethinc.com/June11

Today is International Day of Solidarity with Marius Mason and all long-term anarchist prisoners. Even as the world burns, we cannot forget those inside.

If you're not in the streets today, write a letter to an anarchist prisoner.

"They promised connection. But they delivered addiction, surveillance, and manipulation."

What a simple, powerful statement about commercial social media by @_elena in her amazing movie.

I'm going to steal this. (With attribution of course!)

Nearly 6 months into the 2nd Trump Presidency

and an ongoing escalation of raids by CBP and ICE,

things came to a head in Los Angeles this week.

¡Hoy decimos basta! (Today we say enough)

The Trump regime has responded by calling in the National Guard and US Marines to try to quell the riots.

Solidarity actions are being organized in cities around the country. Link up with your trusted crew, and start making plans.

The military cannot be everywhere at once, the more of us who go out and resist, the safer we are collectively.

STAY SAFE.

GO HARD.

Repeat after me: For rich people and big companies, one-time fines, no matter how high, are just cost of doing business. As long as the ratio profit to fine is acceptable, they will pay, but delay the payment by going through all court levels, simply because they can afford that route. If you want companies or rich people to change, your better options are laws and regulations that make the unwanted behaviour illegal or you tax/tariff them at a level that makes the profits go to zero or below.

Made a video on the whole "the Chinese just smuggled in bioweapons to kill our crops!!" panic.

Good to send to friends & family who caught the hype.

We're thrilled to announce our new project:

Building on the great work of Suite Numerique (docs.numerique.gouv.fr/home/), we are offering an opportunity to be part of a new collaborative Docs platform as a service, that provides an ethical alternative to Google Docs, Office 365, Notion etc.

Docs is the result of a joint effort lead by the French 🥖 (DINUM) and German 🥨 (ZenDiS) governments which represents a paradigm shift in the way open source software is funded.

Good morning Fedi friends!

A HUGE thank you for all your enthusiastic comments to my Fediverse promo video. I'm delighted to hear you're finding it useful, as a tool to spread the word about the Fediverse.

I put together a FAQ page for the video as:
1) I was often getting the same questions
2) I'll be offline / in mommy mode for the rest of the day 😅

I just realized that I started my blog #TheFutureIsFederated exactly a year ago today. What a journey it has been! ❤️

My takeaway: Satellite launches are undoing the recovery of the ozone layer that should be happening now that CFCs are banned. And this study doesn't even take into account metal deposition from reentries, which might be even worse!

When I teach climate change in my astro classes, I always give the recovery of the ozone layer as an example of how countries can work together to fix a giant problem (Montreal Protocol). I guess satellite companies are now destroying that too.

malleable software

My talk was all about control=agency.
I push for #freesoftware because there's no #agency without permission. But permission is not enough to gain agency to modify things. They also need to be built malleable.

Apparently, if you have facebook or Instagram installed on your phone, #Meta was able to track your browsing habits and link them to your real identity even if you never logged in on the web, used incognito mode or a VPN. I hope Meta gets hit with every fine in the book.

Wow. themarkup.org/pixel-hunt/2025/ My opinion of LinkedIn and those exclusively publishing to it was already load, but this is a huge imposition on people. It's the sort of thing that should cost those responsible their jobs at the very least.
