Apropos @peertube the french developer collective @Framasoft are currently trying to raise the (for #bigTech derisory) amount of EUR 75,000 to develop the opensource #fediverse competitor app to Youtube. Maybe chuck 'em a few euros if you think it useful?

Gabriel Kuhn joins The Assistant Professor of Football for a new episode to explore “Red Vienna” in the 1920s: antifascism, workers’ sports, sober politics, and what they offer us today. Centering the life of Julius Deutsch, Kuhn sheds light on a time when soccer wasn’t just a game—it was part of building a better world.

One thing that bothered me since some time is that for switching between different 🎶 players required to🔓 the 📱 .

So e.g. pausing #gnome podcasts to listen to music via #gapless needed ever so many steps. I've thus added a lockscreen plugin to #phosh that tracks all currently running media players that use #mpris and allows to interact with them.

This is all pretty rough still but I can hopefully brush it up for 0.48 (gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/p).

Meanwhile, defenders of these crimes are saying, essentially, that anyone who criticizes the Netanyahu regime is anti-Semitic.

#FediForum premiere for my Fediverse promo film = done.

How did it go? So well that I've been fighting back tears for the past half hour.

Getting such warm, positive comments from builders and champions of the fediverse is EVERYTHING ❤️ Thank you @j12t for this opportunity.

I'm almost tempted to "deploy on a Friday" and share the link to the video now 😅 But nah, I know better. Tuesday it is! (Monday is a public holiday here)

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Oh no I just got some bad news: Monday is a public holiday in France; my daughter's pre-school will be closed. So I will have to wait till Tuesday to release the Fedi promo video on my site 😭

Launching it on a public holiday is the same thing as deploying software updates on a Friday afternoon.

How much time to work will I have on Monday? 0 minutes. And I want to be on top of things in case there are any issues... and respond to people's feedback.

So Tuesday morning? 🥲

‘It’s goodbye to French fishermen’: Macron under pressure as crucial UN ocean summit opens - theguardian.com/environment/20 bottom trawling must be banned - it's so destructive

@lightweight yeah, LLM's ... Been thinking about that a lot lately. They're a useful tool once you've built up a large body of knowledge and have healthy skepticism. I'm concerned about a future where students and workers just rely on their output without being able (or willing) to question their output.

Feels like creeping ever closer to idiocracy

Catalyst IT, with all it's open source philosophy, and its contract for PACT, and it's support of Mahara .. you think they'd have the foresight to push for Linux based laptops in schools over MS/Google captive-ware.

The thing is, the NZ government is known for legally domestically spying on all of you (I was there during the GCHQ protest, where John Key and Parliament retroactively changed the law to make domestic spying on Kim Dotcom legal). Chromebooks are all about spying on students and setting them up with Google accounts at a very young age (All schools monitor students in the US. It's insane). Win 11 will push the same with MS accounts. Under the covers, school systems probably want this, because it allows an insane amount of control and privacy violations.

Students and parents should have the option to opt out of both.
