RAW MILK TIME

I was surprised to find most of the "raw milk cures ___" talking points from the last 20+ years come from one (1) raw milk dairy farmer in California.

Let's get to know him!

Mark McAfee, 5th generation dairy & almond farmer in CA, complains "the government is out to get him." Just because he's been accused of starting multiple outbreaks!

But he's a good guy! He visits those sick kids in the hospital in his private plane.

In honor of the special occasion, I have a blog post ready: All About the Tenth Amendment.

(No, really, it IS all about the Tenth Amendment)

As always, posting here first. If you see any errors please let me know.

Wired magazine falls for Bluesky's BS that it's decentralized. It could be, but it isn't.

This is tech journalism of the old style: credulous worship that isn't close to being justified by the reality.

Wired is better than this, or should be.

A few greedy, short-sighted Democratic senators are about to help undermine our financial system by helping the monumentally corrupt cryptocurrency industry force the rest of us to subsidize it.

Notably in the bag for the crypto bros are senators from NY and Arizona. Vile.

Unfortunately we're about to see the worst, repressive ways this legislation can be used. wired.com/story/take-it-down-a

President of CBS News quits rather than cave in to Trump extortion, which her former, cowardly bosses are plainly planning to do.

She has more integrity than the rest of them put together.

She also knows that extortionists don't stop when you cave. They demand more.

The past days have been intense for our infra team. We managed to restore all services except for Hosted Woodpecker CI, which remains offline for the moment. We need a break, and we hope that the maintainer of that service might be able to recover it more quickly.

On a positive note, we have completed some long-planned changes to our infrastructure, such as migrating the RAID setup of our first machine (btrfs) to the setup chosen for the others, hopefully avoiding similar issues in the future.

Everyone thinks we grow a lot of corn & soybeans in the US "because of subsidies," & that's just... not accurate?

So I made a video about it

@davidgerard Mr Gerard, Mr Gerard, I went on LinkedIn today and found someone with 27K followers sharing code on Agentic AI, and when I checked the code they're just importing BTC prices and asking ChatGPT to trade good.

It appears that the plane back to Melbourne accidentally dropped me off in the darkest timeline

@mastodonmigration @liaizon @Nelfan @bsky.app @pfrazee.com @dot_social here’s the thing: I am trying to evangelize the fediverse to people who don’t even know what it is so we can get a lot more adoption and awareness. I’m taking a big tent approach I.e. Fediverse is not just apps that use activitypub (only technical people understand this) it’s a movement focused on wresting control from the walled gardens.

That said, I’ve heard this feedback before and so I have more often been referring to the whole movement as the open social web which is inclusive of ActivityPub and AT proto. While I know this is not perfect either I think it’s important that we clearly name and position our movement in order to advance it rather than confusing it with detail and nuance that few will understand.

WSJ does a service by listing Trump's cryptocurrency dealings in an article it plans to update as the criminal-in-chief -- by far the most corrupt president in American history -- rakes in more billions in bribes and scams.

Now do this with ALL Trump world corruption, pls.

This is just a partial glimpse of the destruction of American science by Trump and the GOP.

Sometime just after 4:35pm Pittsburgh time tomorrow (Sunday—I think it's still Saturday there as I write this), I was supposed to walk on stage at @pycon and receive the Community Service Award.

I won't be doing that in person, because I'm transgender, and the event is in the US.

My AU passport has an X gender marker, so I can't even get an ESTA or visitor visa to enter the US, and even if I could it is a country that is even more wildly unsafe for people like me than it was a year ago.

LLMs exist to crush labour. That's not even my surmise, the people paying billions of dollars to fund this stuff are extremely open and explicit that this is their goal.

There are no ethical use cases for LLMs at this point in time. Maybe when the bubble has popped thoroughly. Not before.

Missouri’s governor signed a law this spring for the state to grab control of St. Louis Police, returning the city to a Civil War-era arrangement.

A local official calls the move "a clear gesture of white men wanting to control urban areas.

For some minutes, SSH host key verification failed. If you accepted the new key, please restore the previous one. The keys are listed in codeberg.org/Codeberg/org/src/.

The migration wasn't as smooth as we hoped but the impact has not exceeded our expectations.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and are now looking forward to see you pushing the code you worked on in the meantime 🚀
