I wish that journalists would stop uncritically buying into Musk's framing of what DOGE is doing as an audit. You can tell it is not an audit because it is being done by people with zero experience in auditing and the methodology is "poke around in files, looking for keywords without any context."

The conventional wisdom suggests that WhatsApp provides 'fully encrypted' messaging between parties. I know that the Fediverse has a disproportionately high population of folk with a credible understanding of advanced cryptography... Can any of you tell me whether we can *prove* that the code running in the actual proprietary WhatsApp client is implementing uncompromised end-to-end encryption that only the sending & receiving part(y|ies) can decrypt? Or are we just taking Meta's word for it?

We were still struggling with email delivery from Forgejo. It looks like some queues are corrupted and restoring them is very hard. Most queued messages are spam or registration emails with already expired tokens. Finally, we made the decision to reset the queue and will do that in a few minutes.

We are using the opportunity to switch the queues to #redict / #redis, which was a planned project anyway (a requirement for clustering our Forgejo to multiple instances).

#DOGE's Race to the Bottom - wired.com/story/doge-elon-musk "Democracy doesn’t die in darkness after all; it dies in #JIRA tickets filed by #Palantir alums." #musk

@strypey What I am really arguing for is Consent based decision making rather than majority wins. In my experience, consent based governance is far less divisive than majority wins. (Which of course create losers and two camps battling things out for ever.) Not sure how broadly Consent based governance can be applied (cynefin may provide insights to that) but I would like to see it as the default rather than majoritarian that is what democracy generally means

Bad news: DDoS has followed to the new location.
Good news: There, we have at least basic DDoS protection.
Bad news: The server is still unreachable.

We have received first numbers. The DDoS is apparently about 11Gbit/s over UDP traffic currently.

We appreciate all the love and support we receive from you, thank you so much.

However, the sad story is, that this day was a massive disruption for most people who develop software on a serious level on Codeberg, from large Free/libre software projects to companies and freelancers, and we are sorry about this.

We acknowledge if this makes you want to move elsewhere, but we're of course happy about everyone who can stay ❤️.

We have finally reached a somewhat stable level of operation. In the past hours, we managed to partially restore service, but mostly managed to do so only for a subset of our users (due to DNS propagation delays and IPv6 vs IPv4 connectivity differences).

Currentely, Codeberg is available for all the situations we monitor for, and we expect that most connectivity issues will be resolved soon after all DNS caches clear.

How did it come to be?

⚠️ Codeberg is facing a network level DDoS. Until it is back online, it is possible to use code.forgejo.org/forgejo/forge as an alternate source for releases.

Louisiana signs extradition order for New York doc who prescribed abortion pill out of state. This is a war on women & reproductive healthcare.

“Carpenter did nothing illegal: New York is shield state that protects abortion providers & allows them to mail abortion meds without fear of prosecution”

I can’t stress this enough… if you’re able to stock up on abortion pills, plan B or oral contraceptives… now’s the time.

If you’re certain you don’t want to get pregnant, look into getting your tubes tied or an IUD placed.

Stop using period trackers. Encourage your friends to stop as well.

Even if you aren’t worried about your own reproductive health, by being prepared you may be able to help someone in need.

Lastly if you DO help someone end a pregnancy… No you didn’t. You helped them move. Or visit their aunt. Or shop for furniture.

Now is the time for discretion because Trump and his team of christofascists seem determined to criminalize pregnancy at all costs.

If you're in the market for dystopian political fiction (because why wouldn't you be, with such a dearth of dystopian politics in the real world) you might consider giving this Jack London classic a listen.

Does anyone in the Atlanta area who work from home and want to co-work instead? I'm renting out the back room in my house for an office in nearby Smyrna (close to the Braves stadium, walk-able to the library, coffee, food, etc.)! Private or shared office space is available. Shared kitchen, living room, and music room attached. Bicycle repair facilities (and mechanic) on site, discounts for commuting by bike! I'd love to have some company during the work day! Price negotiable.

With Musk usurping their real authority — appropriation — what role does Congress even play?

Republicans tacitly unveiled their answer this week: They see their main purpose as disseminating even more disinfo to make Americans even dumber.

I had no idea Wikipedia allowed editors to use the Heritage Foundation's extremist garbage-spewing as a trustworthy source in a journalistic sense. So it's gratifying to see that Wikipedia is taking steps to forbid editors from citing it as evidence of anything.

Thanks to my recent experience helping @rai on get a #NextCloud + #OnlyOffice instance moved to a new server and fully upgraded and integrated, I've been motivated to update my somewhat obsolete NC + OO tutorial: tech.oeru.org/install-nextclou
