They rely on the perception of power, but we outnumber them by a LOT. Also, these people are brutal and kind of petty but mostly not so smart.

I know this is not all about me, but I am here and it affects me. And I have a responsibility to decide how I react to it, and this thread is about that.

Hey WordPress admins: my site keeps pestering me to use persistent object cache to improve performance. I used Redis for a while but it made it impossible to schedule future updates - i.e., WordPress lets me schedule a new comic (for example) to show up on the site at some future date, but with Redis running, Redis doesn't notice the update and the site doesn't actually display the new post until I manually clear Redis cache.

Is there some way to fix that? It is not desirable behavior.

Just saw something come across my feed expressing alarm about the lack of street protests in the U.S. right now.

I can't guarantee that there's more or better resistance now than there was in 2017, but here's a reminder out there that there are many types of action beyond street protests.

It seems that a few people are being misinformed about the deprecation of the X11 backend, usually because they read screeds from well-known bad faith actors.

The X11 backend being deprecated mainly means that we're not going to spend time implementing new features, like dmabuf, graphics offloading, or Vulkan support. X11 support will still exist until GTK4 is EOL, which will happen once GTK *6* is released. We're talking about a 20 years horizon, at this point…
