Someone I know is learning to program. I looked at the resulting code, and, unsurprisingly, it was bad :D

What did stand out was the inconsistent indentation.

I only fail to indent when I copy-paste the worst dreck, to throw away with disgust 5 min later. I spend maybe 30min per year with badly indented code.

(And I consider it consistently-indented code even if it's a style I don't like.)

And you, experienced coders? Do you worry about indentation as much as I?

the moment people start using medical diagnostic terms instead of just saying "deliberate cruelty", it invites the forces of hatred to use exaggerated versions of our positions to get us all fighting each other instead of them

Trump's immigration policy is performative violence intended to pacify restless white people. But it won't actually improve their lives—only raise their relative status by ruining others' lives. It is the perfect distraction for a billionaire determined to concentrate wealth and power in his own hands at everyone else's expense.

What Trump does to the undocumented today will eventually be done to many more people. If the rest of us do not act in solidarity now, we cannot expect others to act in solidarity with us when we are the ones being arrested and herded into detention centers.
