We're so excited to have joined social.coop and the fediverse.
SSG is a #workercoop that helps decision-makers create decarbonized, equitable and healthy communities.
We do this using rigorous technical analysis and meaningful community engagement.
We are structured as a worker cooperative so that we can be accountable to our member-owners, rather than shareholders, enabling us to focus on addressing social and environmental issues above profits.
Walgreens really stepped in it big time.
“Governor Gavin Newsom tweeted Monday morning California won't be doing business with Walgreens after it announced it will not distribute abortion medication in 20 states.
Newsom went on to say that the state is done doing business with any company that ‘cowers to the extremists and puts women's lives at risk.‘”

This is an interesting shift.

Asheville Police wondered out loud if a “member of the press” will “wise up” following their colleague’s arrest for recording an encampment sweep at a public park. Why isn’t the national media covering this? There’s still time - the trial is April 19.

A U.S. embassy official reportedly threatened to turn American journalist over to authorities in Niger for showing up to a scheduled meeting. The State Department needs to investigate and improve training for all employees who deal with the press.

Any leads for the locked out workers at ?
Is everyone in this city really OK with violent force being used against people—for any reason, let alone to deny the human right to shelter—without even a court ruling?
#Minneapolis under #JacobFrey is a cruel, harmful, violent place.
I read something like this and it's heartbreaking.
This is literally the guy in that XKCD comic that maintains a tiny piece at the bottom of a huge JavaScript stack that would fall over if he just stopped maintaining his open source library for free one day.
And because he's not a good self-promoter, whenever he tries to ask for money all he gets is hate and vitriol in response.
Open source, man. I love it, but the tech industry sucks.

#ISONewEngland is focused on carefully incrementalizing change so that it doesn’t disrupt the basic business model, when what is needed is just the opposite: the ISO business model and the very architecture of the grid need disruption. Wealth distribution needs to replace wealth concentration, and distributed
control needs to counterbalance centralized control. We have the technical tools and the people power to do it.

So, this is fun. We are their worst nightmare. Turn's out Mastodon "falls short for businesses" because it lacks "advertising support," says an ad industry publication.
CMSWire: Facebook Is Better for Business Than Mastodon. Here's Why >>> https://www.cmswire.com/digital-marketing/facebook-is-better-for-business-than-mastodon-heres-why/
"Social media has become one of the most powerful tools businesses can leverage for advertising... Mastodon, on the other hand, does not offer an advertising platform to businesses."
😂
DeSantis could seize the newspapers and broadcast stations, send university professors and librarians to relocation camps, and restrict voting to white Christian men, and Patricia Mazzei and the New York Times would continue to laud his political smarts. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/05/us/ron-desantis-florida-legislature.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

“The underlying #philosophy of unrestrained #capitalism is that
whatever is best for people with the most money is good for
people with the least. This is such a perversion of common sense that it would be laughable, were it not so obscenely unjust.
Only a fool would think that
capitalistic command-and-control
organizations could ever produce
an equitable, enduring free #society. Only a greedy man would create them. Only an arrogant man would run them.” —Dee Hock

Wow, reading this: https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2023/my-daughters-school-took-over-my-personal-microsoft-account seems that Microsoft is even inept than I thought (and I thought they were heroically, indefatigably inept). Seems to me that they did you a favour, @geerlingguy@mastodon.socal - my life's definitely been much better (and about 1/15th the cost) without MSFT Azure in it. Seems like a good nudge to exit that (broken) monoculture.
