I have a theory that MIcrosoft is vastly overstating the profitability of its Azure cloud, and it's actually losing money. They're fully committed not to building a great cloud, but rather to locking their customers into proprietary components of their cloud (Active Directory) and then they'll jack the prices, reaping monopoly profits.

I was talking with NZ fungi expert Jerry Cooper last night and he mentioned that he has now personally made over **100,000** identifications on #iNaturalist of other people's uploaded #fungi photos.

Jerry's a fungal taxonomist at #ManaakiWhenua, NZ's terrestrial environmental research institute.

While iNaturalist has machine learning "AI" suggestions for IDs, it is experts like Jerry manually checking through everything that make it shine.

Many often feel that credit unions/other coop banks feel no different than their competitors.

In the everyday life of ordinary customers, that is probably true.

However, one key difference is that they are much less likely to go bust than capitalist banks.

But that is not a difference that is easy to appreciate; you do not appreciate bank for *not* going bust, anymore than you appreciate a friend for *not* stealing from you.
