Oh dear, sounds like a lot of unfortunate businesses have just worked out that they're getting ripped off by MS Azure and Amazon AWS. https://www.theregister.com/2022/11/02/cloud_magic_era_ends/ who woulda thought?

@tinker Done a first pass!

I've left a header space free for you to add the logo/address of the library, and/or instructions.
It's a Scribus file (with three exported .pdf files) so it can be edited with that free, open source, software if needed.
Let me know if it's useful!

For everyone here: I read there is a shortage of instances run by women admins. I know a few already, but I love to know more. I am one for one, but
https://vis.social/about/more and I thought https://mastodon.art/about/more is one too.
Mine i https://socialserver.science/about/more and is mainly aimed at scientists and scientific visualizers.
Please boost!
Good piece on why scientists are using the word 'scary' to describe our climate futures. It points out that extreme weather events are set to become even more extreme and prevalent - we are now locked in for big change in the coming years - but will get far harder still if we (rich countries esp) do not draw down CO2e and CH4e at once.

Truth out headline, "The 2022 Midterms Are a Referendum on the Future of Democracy in the US", makes me sick to my stomach. To perpetuate the lie that the neoliberal Democratic Party is somehow more democracy focused than the Republican Party denies all of the primary election gerrymandering done by the Democratic Party.

We are extending the fundraiser for Dr. Jessica Gordon Nembhard for one more week. If you haven't already donated, please do now. And if you have, please remind your friends.
Our friend and longtime cooperative advocate, Dr. Jessica Gordon-Nembhard, was sued last year by a member of the co-op community for "conspiring" and "defamatory" communication. Please donate to offset the considerable expense of her legal defense.
Good news! We've extended our #CfP until next Sunday, November 13, 23:59 CET! So if you haven't already, submit your proposal now at https://23.foss-backstage.de/call-for-papers/ #fossback
I was talking to a younger (25+ years) local punk, who expressed that it was tough for a black, female punk rocker to make it. I commiserated that it was bad that the perception of punk rock came to be white, male dominated. It certainly wasn't an intention. When we were growing community in the 80s, it was anti-Reagan, which meant fighting the white male domination, racist, and Christian tenets that were being pushed.

For those of you who live in countries with sane health care systems (i.e. not the U.S.), please take a moment to appreciate that you don't have to deal with this kind of nonsense.
"IMPORTANT REMINDER: Check your 2022 FSA balance with EBPA now. For Health Care FSAs, you may only carry over $100-$570 of unused contributions into the next year; amounts under $100 or over $570 are forfeited"

@lightweight You might like this:
Some folks might notice that some of us provide links to videos that start with "https://invidious.something or other". https://invidious.io is a #FOSS service that wraps around YouTube like a condom protecting you (or whoever watches your link) from Google's normal intrusion into your privacy and metadata. There are lots of instances of Invidious - I tend to use https://invidious.snopyta.org because I've memorised it now. I usually also include a Youtube link in case the instance is down.
I encourage others to be aware that posting to proprietary services (like LinkedIn or FB) often creates an imposition on those clicking the link - they need to create an account to view the content in many cases. Just be conscious that this is an imposition on people who choose not to create such accounts due to the data sovereignty and privacy implications.
