Everyone talks about not having senior devs in the future because we’re replacing the juniors with LLMs, but nobody’s talking about losing senior devs now because people who are competent and care about the quality of their work are leaving this LLM-infested hellscape of a career path to go into carpentry, hostelry, or subsistence farming

A lot of devs are obviously struggling with complex communication problems currently, so as someone with a modest linguistics background, I offer this helpful template:

"We do not allow LLM generated code in our project's codebase."

I give away all IP rights to the above sentence. It is free to use and reproduce.

This is an absolutely bonkers thread that reveals how much duct tape and bailing wire is holding together a trillion dollar company’s “artificial intelligence” system. It’s a Linux VM with a bunch of vibe code and Markdown files, and can be trivially persuaded into just… pwning the whole system, apparently.

$18B in loans tied to Oracle’s New Mexico AI data center are trading at 89-91¢ on the dollar as banks struggle to sell the debt.

Now Oracle is invoking force majeure to protect itself from payments if the project is delayed.

The cracks are starting to show in AI data center financing. investing.com/news/stock-marke

@manchicken I know Kroger is a shit company, but its pharmacy works (at least in my area) to provide the lowest price for prescriptions, even outside of insurance. I've kept with them even though insurance doesn't support them, and only go to CVS if I have to (usually expensive, non-generics).

Pharmacies in the United States are absolutely shit right now. CVS is dominating the market by having captured one of the largest insurance providers, and by literally buying out all of the competition. What’s left of Walgreens is now so poorly staffed and has such poor service that the folks working in the pharmacy are openly belligerent to patients.

I fucking hate this timeline.

SF Democratic Party stands behind.. Flock

They even have two people on Flock’s payroll! Who didn’t recuse themselves from the vote!

Feckless, gormless politicians

i don't know how to put this more simply:

fascism is bad
reporting fascism is not
fascists should have the shit kicked out of them frankly, but we'll settle for banning them
people who report fascists for fascist comments should not be banned.

if you can't manage that, you have no business calling yourself 'community', 'inclusive' or any of the other nice words you like to attribute to yourselves.

ALRIGHT! I'm VERY excited to announce this research, because we've been holding onto it for close to a year now!

Announcing File Notification Attacks! Side-Channel Leakage from the File-Notification System on #Linux, #Android, #Windows, and #macOS

We've found decades-old bugs on Linux, Android, and Windows... well technically Microsoft considers what we found an ✨ undocumented feature ✨ (got Microsoft nominated for the lamest vendor response #pwnie award haha).

There's SO much to talk about, so please expand this thread below, but you can also check it out yourself at:

There's a #noAI logo that my sister drew there. Our work was accepted at #CCS 2026, and I'll be presenting it this November at The Hague, Netherlands! If you're there, we should totally meet up :D

These days my first reactions to projects talking about AI in open source aren't even about the ethical disaster, the environmental disaster, the theft and gating of the commons or an of the other ludicrous externalities this blight of an industry has inflicted on all of us.

My first, most visceral reaction to people who should know better and spent years claiming they did is, what happened to your self-respect. Did you ever bother trying understand the things you said you believed in?

#Meta’s #AI #Agent Muse Launches With Nasty Zero-Day Flaw, Then Gets Blocked By Amazon - techdirt.com/2026/09/24/metas- "After burning $80 billion on the failed #metaverse pivot — and billions more on desperate “me too” offerings in the AI space — Meta is looking to leverage its massive ad dominance to colonize the agentic AI (or personal assistant) market. Gas prices are sky high, but good ol boys are still rolling coal. Hopefully they can keep making payments on those lifted trucks after diesel hits $10/gallon.

Which German biscuits can replace Digestive biscuits in pie crusts? I am tired of searching for Digestive biscuits every time I want to make a lime pie. Must be vegan! No rolled oats please!

So this guy randomly mentions that he's been working as an AI trainer, making $70 US/hr to proofread AI output from home...and apparently there are 30,000 people working on just one project. 🤔

Undocumented immigrants paid an estimated $96.7 billion in U.S. taxes in 2022, including $6.4 billion into Medicare. Yet, Ramya Gosike reports, they cannot enroll in Medicare.

Rooting for project failure becomes the new norm.

I’m not saying that these folks are corrupt as shit, but I am saying that they’re not trustworthy to talk about cutting schools when 8th grade algebra classes have 42 kids to one teacher. I am saying it’s sus as fuck that they’re hiring out-of-state firms to manage bonds when there are local options that will comply with the law. I am saying that this school board seems more interested in selling our school district to private businesses than they are educating our kids.
