While the #matrix network is going through a major version room upgrade to version 12 (matrix.org/blog/2025/08/securi) you might wonder if #chatty works with that room version. Seems so:

#gtk #phosh #LinuxMobile

The problem is the tabbed interface!

If I open old files when LO is set to use the tabbed interface, those files crash. When I switch to the old button format it's fine.

That is a very interesting bug. I'm not entirely sure what's at play there.

Dear Fedi friends,

I've been a little quiet on this account because I'd been pouring all my energy into setting up a new VPS as a testing ground to learn #Docker.

I need to become proficient in Docker ASAP in order to move my Ghost CLI site there (if I want it to federate).

The past 48 hours have been a real rollercoaster ride, as you could read on my GoToSocial account @elena.

Please beware of #OVH! They terminated my VPS without any notice: aseachange.com/@elena/statuses 😵‍💫

I desoldered a couple of components I thought were oscillators. Looking not far from this, about 4mm×3mm:

quartzcom.com/upload/cms/user/

The marking on one is 16535o, on the other is 27545o.
Or maybe the last thing is a rectangle. I can barely see it.

Those are not typical crystal frequencies, what are they?

I have a #microcontroller which specifies a 32.768 KHz #oscillator for the RTC.

I have a 12KHz oscillator.

I want to make the #PCB NOW.

What if I use the 12KHz instead? Can I expect glitches?

Why would the recommended spec even be so inflexible? Is that because of some time-dpendent internal circuitry?

Ever try to work on something, but the only software for it sucks? You get frustrated in the "I can do it better" way and go back to using the bad tool?

Uh, I'm not that person.

One flow later... I did it better.

@dangillmor True to the Democratic Party way since the 1972 election.

Looks like in the end, Texas Democrats folded like cheap suits.

I updated to the latest version of LibreOffice (25.8) today and tried opening one of my old resumes (in odt format). It promptly crashed. I tried opening every copy of my resume I had (I update them yearly) and they all crashed.

I guess LibreOffice doesn't think much of my professional record.

@leighelse "artificial intelligence" is a scientific and software engineering term, but it's not being applied correctly in the marfketing of LLMs.

Do YOU have $100 million in bonds to tide you over for when Trump and Republicans crash the stock markets?

No? Why not? You should plan ahead!

HRW usually focuses on wars and atrocities. Now, they're investigating LA cops' violence against protesters and journalists.

It's not because it's a slow atrocity news week — it's because the situation in LA really is that bad.

“All licensed attorneys — but especially top prosecutors entrusted to protect the public, not just their clients — should know better than to retaliate against newspapers for basic public-interest journalism," Seth Stern said.

"Earlier this year, MERL Tech Initiative (MTI) undertook a sprint for Shared Services Canada (SSC), a department in the Government of Canada (GoC), with the question: Can Generative AI help government evaluators identify what might be missing from reports to refine the next cycle of evaluations?"

Is it the government's job to try to find a use case for an automated BS generator? 🤔
