@dynamic One problem with answering is my left leaning vote won't count in my red state.

Do/Have you used a CD/DVD/Bluray in a while?

What about burning a disk?

I'm surveying modern day awareness/usage of optical media, mostly to confirm some demographic theories, so if you know what a CD/DVD is, please help me (and maybe others) out by answering some ~10 questions here:

And then please boost for better visibility! Thank you!

@dynamic The Democratic Party leadership is neoliberal and anti-socialist. They actively fight to keep progressive candidates out. This disenfranchises many on the left. The only way to fight this within the system is to fight back and get the progressive candidates elected. Getting them elected as Democrats gives the left more power within the party, but even third party gives more power in government.

The other idea is not voting to create more Dem losses to effect a left shift.

I've been asked to write a book by a Real Publisher. The topic was a collection of thoughts on issues in the industry, leadership, etc.

Pros: I have control over the book.

Cons: Publisher has an extremely poor reputation in the tech community.

Does anyone here have experience self-publishing (probably my preference, I just want a physical copy for spiritual reasons) or know someone at a good publisher that might enjoy my writing? I'll have talks with these folks, but can probably do better.

The Washington Post asks: "Severe heat wave in the West is making history. How much longer will it continue?"

About a century or more, depending on how we finally chose to tackle human-caused climate change.

Google PR sure is taking its sweet time getting back to me about the finding that Chrome has a hidden extension that allows all *.google.com domains to monitor your CPU usage and other private system info. I'm sure they're working just as fast as they can.

What can you say to people who claim their life was easier under fascist rule, but "Welcome to freedom!"?

Breaking: Secret Service logs show seven visits to White House by an arborist in the last six months. Our expert analyst concludes this means Biden likely has Dutch Elm Disease.

A magazine asked me for a quote on AI generated influencers. I read the articles they linked and said "Just a bunch of dudes bragging that they made a woman that doesn't talk back. Nothing fucked up about that."

The interviewees in the previous articles just quibbled over whether the images were fatphobic. Like, yes, sure, obviously, but did NO ONE ELSE see the guy saying he made a woman that doesn't talk back?

??!?!?!?!?? 💀 🙃 🧛‍♂️ Is this why people ask me for quotes?

After blocking double-digit number of IP ranges, the amount of traffic is still ramping up.

Unfortunately, the amount of traffic is just too much for us to deal with. There is a much bigger player on the other end.

Codeberg is currently suffering from massive crawling traffic from some Huaweicloud machines. We are mass-blocking IP ranges again.

@dynamic Unfortunately, it depends on the state you live in, because a lot of laws have been passed to disallow assisting turnout. Otherwise you could help provide ways to make it easier to vote and help people feel safer in voting.
The other thing is to somehow convince people that voting isn't just a waste of time. On the left, this means fighting the Democratic Party. In current system fighting standard is geetting more progressives to run and win.

ICYMI: if you are looking to break free from #Adobe Creative Cloud apps like #Photoshop #Lightroom and #Illustrator and their hefty monthly fees (plus #AI nonsense), you can now try #Affinity apps for free for 6 MONTHS. Details below.

The advantage of Affinity is that you can buy the apps and not pay a monthly subscription fee (at least for now, they were recently purchased by Canva). The PetaPixel blog title is deceptive, the free trial applies to ALL their apps toot.earth/@PetaPixel/11275252
