@dynamic I would amend, "only way to stay connected", to, "only way to stay constantly connected". It's a very insidious effect of social networks that we often fail to point out.

The "racist uncle" is no longer just a family holiday annoyance; he now lives with you, or lives with someone you visit frequently. ;-)

The biggest COVID-19 failure is that COVID-19 failed to make a dent in the growth of the world population. It'll probably have a long term opposite effect by raising longevity due to an increase in health research. Of course, climate change is a much bigger killer than COVID-19 and has a better long term outlook, but it also has many extinction outcomes, which isn't desirable. Fighting climate change is only one piece of the capitalism-is-killing-us fight. So much pollution, so little time.

Many of us were saying this when programs like Purdue's "Back A Boiler" were announced. Now the insidious nature of these programs is coming to light as the US Department of Education is pointing out they are illegally being portrayed as not a loan.
Participants are having to repay up to 250% of the loan's value, and don't have as much recourse as under a regular student loan. Mitch Daniels is a capitalist, raping my alma mater.
