1/ Just got off the phone with pops and got the update on shenanigans at the state legislative session. Highlights include:
- A bill to allow crossbows to be used during archery season, opposed by the MT Bowhunters Assoc.
- A national "sportsmans group" based in the midwest who came in to support the bill (featuring Ted Nugent).
- An astroturf "veterans organization" started by a former DC lobbyist that formed apparently for the sole purpose of supporting the bill.

Yup. First priority should be making sure everyone has adequate housing, and doesn't have to struggle to maintain it. Then we can worry about what price, if any, should be charged, and to whom.

I don't think there's much hugely controversial in this essay, but I do think it's worth a read, as a reminder to keep things in perspective. Alternative agriculture has tendencies toward solutionism that parallel conventional / ecomodern solutionism.
