I've had a few conversations that go like this: I carefully explain what fascism is. The other person gets progressively more uncomfortable. Then they say something like "but that goes against everything I've ever been taught is right!"

And I'm sort of left wondering what they were expecting.

So for anyone who needs it, this is reminder that if you find fascism horrifying, abhorrent, and contrary to everything you've ever heard, this says *good* things about you and your upbringing.

I have backup strips between each chapter of Justice Warriors: Vote Harder focusing on media reaction to the election. Here is the first one.

@lwriemen yeah, there's a non-trivial part of me that believes absolutely nothing ever gets truly deleted if it's in digital form. Except for that ONE THING you want to recover...

The easiest, assuming they have the storage for it, is just to make a copy of everyone's tweets in preparation for the training. That way it doesn't matter what I delete in my own account, they'd still have everything. But I'm not sure how practical it would be to do that, and at the very least they might want to wait until today (when the new agreement goes into effect) to start making copies.

At the end of the day it probably doesn't make much difference. Still deleting it though!

@ubersoft Maybe they'll pull a GitHub where Microsoft kept a copy of deleted repositories.

You can now call your Senator — via @fight's new tool that makes it super easy — and implore them to pass the PRESS Act!

Time is running out and your voice can make a difference.

"more than 900,000 workers have amassed savings of over $1.7 billion"
Soooo...$1900 per person at 5% of after tax paycheck since ~2018(?), no match, and in the stock market...gives us $6300/yr after tax earnings. ???

Nothing hits like a barbecue, especially when it’s about good salmon and even better company. That’s why I came thousands of miles to Coast Salish Territories, aka Seattle, to get a taste of some freshly caught Coho from the Quilcene River, grilled to perfection. This isn’t your average cookout. This is the Salish Sea Assembly, an unapologetic, hard-hitting gathering of land defenders, artists, and radicals from across Turtle Island, hosted by Savage Fam’s Ant-Loc and fearless land defender Kanahus Manuel.

Check out my video report to see what went down.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but the US President is not able to create new government agencies by fiat. Musk's DOGE is a "presidential advisory commission," i.e. without any power of it's own. Congress creates administrative agencies, not the President. So please stop freaking out, you're just giving your political opponents what they want (to see you having a tizzy fit over what is essentially a PR move).

Athiesm/Religion

@aral Yes, the religion of growth based economics is a cancer.

The cultural disease is terminal autcollab.org/2024/11/10/heali.

The WEIRD indoctrination system makes sure that all children are indoctrinated in Homo Economicus® from a very young age, before we learn anything substantial about Gaia and the living world. This is possibly the most cruel, dehumanising, and life denying part of WEIRD cultures.

@sam Bring back blogrolls!

On the main page of my blog I have a list of blogs I follow—title, link, blurb, feed URL. They're grouped by category. Used to be very, very common.

(I should probably go through and freshen the list.)

I wound up having to delete all my archived email today. Why? Because so much of it was corrupted it was basically unreadable, and it wasn't worth sifting through the bad to save the good. It feels weird. It feels really, really weird.
