Everyone talks about not having senior devs in the future because we’re replacing the juniors with LLMs, but nobody’s talking about losing senior devs now because people who are competent and care about the quality of their work are leaving this LLM-infested hellscape of a career path to go into carpentry, hostelry, or subsistence farming

@dpk Replacing senior devs has always been the norm for companies that think workers are fungible.

Infusion of new ideas has often been a mantra for hiring new devs and removing old devs. LLMs are the opposite of infusion of new ideas, as they only represent a rehash of old ideas. They might be attractive to unimaginative, antisocial, devs who work on boring and repetitious work.
