Out here speedrunning the prologue to Idiocracy, smdh.

"Some schools are already buying in, despite the educational world initially greeting AI with distrust and outright bans. Per the Times, schools like the University of Maryland, Duke University, and California State University have all signed up for OpenAI’s premium service, ChatGPT Edu, and have started to integrate the chatbot into different parts of the educational experience."

I guess people at the Universities aren't worried about disinformation anymore. "Hallucinations" are just fine, you see, and we should have sympathy for the AI's mental health struggles...or something.

The fact that the heads of the named schools have not already been defenstrated shows just how borked higher ed is. It used to be about education. Now it appears to just about social signaling and nobody cares about being able to think critically...or at all. Weee!!! What a time to be alive!

@GuerillaOntologist Indiana passed a bill that the state funded schools have to have a minimum number of graduates in a three year average to keep the curriculum open. This is mostly targeted at liberal arts degrees, but the list from Purdue University shows it's hitting the Ag school pretty hard as well. Who needs soil science to farm anyway?
