Thinking about politics...

"The most curious part of the thing was, that the trees and the other things round them never changed their places at all: however fast they went, they never seemed to pass anything. “I wonder if all the things move along with us?” thought poor puzzled Alice. And the Queen seemed to guess her thoughts, for she cried, “Faster! Don’t try to talk!”" --- _Through the Looking Glass_ by Lewis Carroll

You might have noticed that for the past few weeks I've been dancing around various aspects of the perpetual political fight between true left wingers and liberals[*].

[*] The word "liberal" has about a half dozen different definitions that kick around in various discourses. In this case, what I'm talking about is the politics of the United States Democractic Party, and more specifically unapologetic DNC voters.

I think it's hard to talk about the divide between left vs. liberal (or center left if you prefer) because despite shared values in a huge number of areas, there are profound feelings of betrayal on both sides.

I'm not even sure that it's *wrong* to feel betrayed, on either side. It comes back to this post of mine, using the xkcd strip "Puzzle" as a metaphor: social.coop/@dynamic/112397170
