I sort of know what the phrasae "late stage capitalism" means, but I'm not entirely sure what the implication is.

Is the idea that things have gotten so bad that any day now revolution is about to finally bring about egalitarian eutopia? Or is it that we're teetering on the brink of some sort of a new world order merging fascism with feudalism?

@dynamic yes. The next step is either a dampening of capitalism through the addition of socialism or plutocracy.

@lwriemen

It once occurred to me that the phrase "late stage capitalism" was weirdly optimistic. Then a day or so later I realized it might not be optimistic at all.

@dynamic @lwriemen I *think* it's supposed to be a reference to late-stage cancer.
