Another observation: I'm starting to detect a certain uniformity to the stuff I'm seeing on Mastodon, and I'm wondering if it has something to do with the fact that "trending" is a thing now.

I think I'm also about due for a big purge of my follows list. I don't like doing this, because basically everyone I'm following seems generally nice and cool.
But unfortunately this something that many of us find extremely necessary in the world of Mastodon's chronological feeds.
