Systemd isn't proprietary, but the main developer, Lennart Poettering, now works for Microsoft, so it will need to be closely watched. #TechRights has raised this as a huge concern, but in reality, we'd have to throw out the whole 'many eyes' premise of open source to accept this.
However, I'd be surprised, if Microsoft hiring Poettering isn't directly related to them trying to take over control of Linux.
@lightweight @lwriemen @Suiseiseki Probably to make sure they grease the wheels for anything they need for Azure.
@lwriemen @lightweight @Suiseiseki I suspect a lot of people would say, “let them have systemd! We will continue with sysVinit!”

If they even try, they will be breaking the law. Then things will get interesting.
@lwriemen @lightweight @Suiseiseki The same guy is responsible for Pulseaudio, a similarly complex and over(?)reaching project which most distributions now use for sound…
@lwriemen @Suiseiseki ok, I hadn't heard that. I'm definitely very suspicious of anything Microsoft does. Will keep a watchful eye. Thanks.
