@Tay0@fosstodon.org @requiem I agree that the 1980s crowds weren't as socially conscious. In early 1980s Indiana, homophobia was still big; even in a town the size of South Bend. I didn't get into the punk scene until the mid-80s, and there were still Nazi skins coming to the shows. I really think the internet's open paths to information allowed young people to expand their social consciousness. Our generation had to rely on parents, peers, or gated paths to information.
