@nurinoas It'd be nice to see @flockingbird get off of Microsoft GitHub.
@flockingbird
First, I should say I'm looking forward to seeing your project succeed.
You're being rather specious in your arguments. Do you really think GitHub is the only git hosting service? Have you looked at codeberg.org or notabug.org?
BTW, I wouldn't use discoverability in your arguments for staying on Microsoft GitHub, because it really weakens your arguments for people to leave Microsoft LinkedIn. @nurinoas
@lwriemen Sure we have. We considered all of them (and also src.ht and others).
It seems your main argument for not wanting to use LinkedIn is that it's from Microsoft. This is not for everyone the case. Many people have many different reasons to look for alternatives.
If all you want is "not microsoft" then probably Xing or even Facebook or Twitter work for you?
@lwriemen @nurinoas Do I hear Volunteers to run the infra for years, setup and maintain a CI, issue-tracker, project management, wiki, etc? Anywhere that is as accessible (registrations, PRs, discoverability, etc) or better: please! By all means spend your energy setting that up for us and migrate us.
Though, honestly, I'd rather see that energy going into building the product, which is a large enough undertaking as it is.
(Also pls consider that we self-host gitea etc. We know how hard it is)
