I'm old enough to remember when so-called progressives supported wikileaks and Assange. That they turned on him so rapidly (and rabidly) is pretty good evidence that, as with most things, it was always just about partisanship for most of them, not an ideological commitment to a free press or, you know, the truth. This type of politics (or maybe anti-politics) is one big reason why we can't have nice things in this country: ppl care more about defending their team than defending rights.
