Should US *Federal* tax policy discourage mass investment in residential real estate (such as is owned by mutual funds, etc.)?

@kai although to be more specific, I would prefer cities to implement land taxes that make investing in land too expensive to make senese

@kai yeah. A land tax would be more effective than a ban if done right, since you can't earn money off something you are charged 100% of the value of every year

@louispearson I know a land tax is advertised as being paid entirely by the landlord, but this seems very silly to me; where do you think the landlord gets the money to pay the taxes?

@kai I haven't done enough reading to hear about the only paid by landlords bit, but I agree with your assessment. I woulyld say land tax would overall incentivise ownership of land for living, and make being a shitty landlord more difficult.
