Question for the community, why do so many FOSS advocates use Mac OS?
@librefree because it's the only remaining shrink-wrapped Unix. If you need to run commercial applications like Photoshop, etc. it's the middle ground between Linux and windows, and a lot of Linux knowledge and programs carry over.
Also, it's not windows, which for many people is Good Enough™.
@librefree I happily used MacOS for 8 years but jumped ship eventually. I don't trust Apple or any other commercial company for that matter not to be undermined by government agencies to implement backdoors into their products.
@librefree Do they really run macOS or do they use a macbook with Linux?
I think many do so.
If they really use macOS, they might like it, because it has a BSD kernel (NeXT) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/XNU
