I just picked up a 20 inch trinitron, and ordered a MiSTer FPGA as well. My goal is to have a massive and almost complete library served via network share directly to a near perfect FPGA copy of each console and displayed on a time appropriate display. Where the MiSTer has gaps, I fill in with real hardware.

@soller I was looking closely at the MiSTer for a while, but what I determined I was most interested in was the platform along with the platform.

Since what I really want to do is develop new 8/16 bit games, I pre-ordered the latest Commander X16 dev board. I'm also planning to get mini and/or the .

@leimon @soller Emulating an Amiga on the MiSTer is fun.

If if I ever get around to it, the MiSTer should be a good platform for learning FPGA development. It's essentially a standardized user-oriented platform for FPGA-based applications.

You don't normally get that with FPGAs. If you find a neat FPGA project, it will be using some FPGA other than what you have.
