Weaving - ocean waves scarf finished
I was nervous about finishing this scarf.
Picked up the ebook for Magic in the Water by Laura Fry to learn more, especially the *why*.
This is a mixed handspun merino/bamboo/silk/stellina weft and cotton warp, under uneven tension with the wave pattern. Both agitation and compression would make the threads even out, moving to the area of least resistance. So I was *very* gentle with the squishing, but it needed some to help the wool relax, fluff up, and grab the warp a little.
Because of the metallic stellina, I didn't think I could iron it directly without it melting. It seems to have worked well enough through an old, smooth tea towel. It doesn't add extra shine this way though.
I added heaps of extra strands for the twisted fringe, and learned I need to reinforce the hemstitching if it was too loose to hold them. Ah well.
Really happy with how it turned out, especially when held up to the light!
