This is a nice idea, but if you want to increase phone longevity and reduce e-waste, mandate software security updates for however long you mandate hardware repair. @kyle there is also a „demand“ for 7 years of software and security updates. I can only find it in german right now. https://www.heise.de/news/Bundesregierung-Smartphones-sollen-sieben-Jahre-lang-Updates-erhalten-6179995.html - in reality - germany WANTS to demand companies to use the same charge-connector since 20 years. nothing ever changed… a lot of this is idealistic talk with little action unfortunately
