I went to get an X-ray today (yes, it's broken) and they actually sent me home because they couldn't find the order for the X-ray. Even after I told them that the doctor's name popped up when I placed the online appointment and wasn't previously associated with my account in their system. Because they don't how how databases work? Or maybe it's just easier to send folks home than to deal with the people you're supposed to be (paid to be) helping?

Right before sending me home they called the good doc for a verbal confirmation and let the phone ring and ring immediately after.

The only reason I was even allowed to get the X-ray is because I asked to talk to a manager, who was about to clear it based on email evidence, but then the doc called back and they actually picked up that time.

I get that life is hard and not everyone understands the fundamentals of how their own databases might work, but picking up the phone when someone calls back seems pretty elementary? Or maybe waiting for a minute until you figure things out?

also if you're the person running x-rays and are legally not allowed to tell people what you see because you're not a doctor, saying weird coded things that make the results seem way worse than they are seems to kind of break the spirit of that agreement?

"I see something 'interesting' and am going to make you a CD you can pick up at a secondary location which you'll need to give to specialists or if you need surgery" kind of implies someone needs surgery, right? Except the person doing x-rays doesn't actually know how to read them in context because she's...not a doctor, so maybe she shouldn't say anything instead of hints that end up being p misleading?

Then after that I watched someone try to get into my car because she thought it was her car. People are not bright.

I honestly just want something to go according to plan now and again.

@yaelwrites So frustrating! Ever interaction my family, friends, and I have with the US medical system reveals, at least to me, what a shambles (and rip off) it is.

@kyle it’s so bad! My insurance is also constantly saying stuff is out of network when it’s in network and so I have to contest it every time.
