@oklomsy@social.linux.pizza I suspect two main reasons: 1. Amazon wants to reduce any friction in closing a sale. A customer that wants to buy 2 things might give up if there is a long line. That's why there is a "Buy it Now" button on their site. 2. Humans are expensive. If they can do away with cashiers entirely the costs (and staff) to maintain a grocery will be similar to a warehouse.
