Making a call from the app on the (and yes audio worked ;) ). This is still a development version of gnome-calls. And work still needs to be done to make it more user friendly and integrated with other components. But hey it is progress :D
Credits go out to: @devrtz that has been working to add on gnome-calls. Also the account on the phone is an jmp.chat account, shoutout to them as jmp.chat is an awesome service :D

#introduction

we are a young couple of scientists who moved to the countryside to live in a more sustainable way and to realize our dreams.

We offer beautiful apartments in an historical tower in #Tuscany. We want to avoid platforms like Booking.com, Airbnb or Google for advertising.

We have also a big vegetable garden at guests' disposal where we experiment #permaculture.

Check us out on morgiano.it/

@Gargron is this the right way to introduce an isolated instance?

Another lost treasure of the internet is the sci.electronics.repair FAQ.

Just look at this goddamn thing. Thousands and thousands of words, chock-full of battle tested wisdom, enough to help anyone with some motivation solve their problems. Zero monetization, zero bullshit. What ever happened to that Internet? I sure do miss it.

➡️ @plasmamobile - FOSS smartphone interface developed by @kde

Probably the easiest option right now is buying a PinePhone or an /e/ degooglised phone, as they have their OSes preinstalled.

However, all these projects deserve support so that alternative phones can become as functional and as easy to use as possible.

Happy 109 anniversary to this little nugget of an article. We've known what the problem is for over a century.

I kinda wish more people would give the android version of Firefox a try. On my phone it actually has better (smoother) scrolling performance than Chrome; and of course the other benefit is you can have a proper ad blocker extension (I use uBlock Origin) installed.

Facebook is doing research in AI & #endtoend encrypted messages, to analyze & target ads on them.

How an AI can determine you are trying to buy designer shoes, but your private discussion about health or politics won't leak?

We have no clue either.

…I’m seeing people say “just don’t use an iPhone.” It’s not that simple when everyday things like financial apps with two-factor authentication are locked into the two main platforms.

We need legislation to ensure critical services use open standards so you can use your Pinephone to buy lunch in the future.

It’s shocking how easily some folks jump to “just go live in a cave.” No, that’s not an acceptable alternative. We deserve to partake in modern life without sacrificing our human rights…

My whole childhood, my whole young adulthood, this was my absolute favourite place in the world.

It was an incubator for engineering, electronics, art, and so much more. The hole left behind with its closure has yet to be filled. We need places like this again.

This is only true because the Chrome team in particular has decided to make it true. Old websites used to work until you decided it was okay to repeatedly break things that worked for a decade because you think everything can be rewritten or abandoned like a Google product
